| posted: 10/27/2003 at 2:42:17 PM ET I know this is going to sound like bad-mouthing and that really isn't my intent but I watched a few minutes of that ABC Family Channel movie with Marissa Jaret Winokur (sp?) and I have to ask: I did not see her in Hairspray. Did she sing that badly and off key in Hairspray? Maybe it was a bad song for her or I'm sure there are other factors beyond your control when making a film but the film was bad enough (very trite story and not well written) - did she have to sing so flat?

damn, she's cool.

Was her acting or singing any different on stage, cuz in the movie I wasn't seeing anything even close to Bernadette's talent from Marissa.

Like some people saying...we didn't want you in this part so we're not gonna reward you. But it was so great rewatching the 2003 Tony's the other day and seeing Merissa all out of breath and how Bernadette had a standing ovation all by herself and to me that was worth it. They almost had to turn the music on the crowd to make them sit down! I would definitely give her a Tony award...I wouldn't know what else to give her. She's changed my life so much that whatever I gave her would be futile.

If I could give her one thing I would make it so that her mother was still living when she accepted the Tony award for AGYG. Because it seemed like Bernadette would have wanted her there more than anything.

She has done so much for me without even knowing it, just by doing what she loves, and that is the greatest present she could have given me.

By the way, I totally agree about that movie being aweful. It was hard enough trying to picture Fran Drescher (who is like 50 but looks 35) as Marissa's mother; but then, there was the excessive amount of clevage from Marissa and the way too obvious lip-synching.
The storyline was cute for about 2 seconds, but it got old really fast. I hope Marissa doesn't think she can keep a career as an actress by only playing fat girls who get the cute guy.

I come here for a break from work, etc., and to learn about and enjoy the joy of Bernadette.
Play nice, kids.
It's about Bernadette.
Please?
