From today's Pittsburgh Tribune:

"The show that continues to enjoy the longest lists of celebrities is "Gypsy," no doubt in part because Bernadette Peters grew up in show business and is one of the industry's sweethearts.
Visitors in the past couple of weeks included Jack Nicholson, Cher, Mike Wallace, Barbara Walters (second visit), David Bowie, Jennifer Grey, David Hasselhoff and Paul Reiser"

The piece is after the Hepburn tribute and mentions stars at other shows.

That was interesting. I wonder if Steve Martin has dropped by Gypsy.

Oscar winner Celeste Holm was there on July 1...looking absolutely radiant, well into her 80's!

I was there the night that Jack Nicholson came to see the show. It was very cool! Once someone spotted him and his family, the word spread and the entire theater gave him a standing ovation during intermission. I took a picture of him afterwards when he went backstage. His kids looked VERY annoyed that he was getting so much attention, though.

I heard that when Jack Nicholson was there he had orginally intended to go see another show but wound up being at Gypsy instead and that the audience was watching him half the time instead of the show LOL

Joel Grey? Not surprised. He and Bernadette are quite friendly.

has Joel Grey been in anything recently, BTW?

BwdyBaby, it's true! Everyone was freaking out and leaning over the balcony going, "Who's down there, who is it!?!" How can Jack expect to not attract attention when he's wearing those signature shades, though?! He was a great sport though, and waved to everyone when people were gawking.

I sat pretty close to Jack and everyone behind his row and in front of him kept turning around to see what he was doing...it was ridiculous! Luckily I wasn't that star-struck and was able to keep focused on the show!

Joel was also at the opening night of Gypsy. He seemed to have really enjoyed it that night as well

As far as I know, I don't really think Joel is working on any projects currently, although I could be wrong....

He did do a concert with Liza out on Long Island this past winter and was on a few episodes of HBO's OZ earlier this year. He's also participated in a few Broadway related charities/events( like the tribute to Adolph Green).
