I haven't really checked out the special features for the Hey,Mr. Producer! DVD,but they didn't look like much.
The Into the Woods DVD does not have any special features of which I am aware.

| posted: 6/29/2003 at 11:36:37 AM ET Well, it wouldn't really make sense to have a commentary for a concert DVD. Movies are one thing, and even Broadway Shows, but concerts...she basically says during her breaks between songs what she would probably say on a commentary. An interview would have been nice though.

What's happened to him? I recently bought his Sondheim CD and it was pretty bad. I mean, I love his voice and all but does he lovelingly have to savour every note of every song??? I've always enjoyed his over-the-top style but this was ridiculous.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 6/30/2003 at 3:11:43 PM ET I saw his concert (well, one of them) in Washington last summer-I think this CD is based on that concert. It (the concert) was quite amazing-he sang for maybe 90 minutes with no intermission, with total emotion and focus, and without once acknowledging the audience in any way (I was in the first row, center). Yes, some of the concert was over the top, but that's what I expect-and want-when I see him. Maybe you had to be there!

When he sings I feel like I am listening to a very bad soprano.
Once again please don't yell at me.

If you're just going to obsessively replay every sound bit that Bernadette is in... what's the point?

Please-no one said that anyone was tuning in just to hear Bernadette. I wasn't expecting her to say much-knowing that Patinkin is a talker, and knowing that when Sondheim gets going,he can talk at length,I was expecting her to be the quietest one. Yes,Mandy provides great insight and information, but it's quite distracting when part of that is spent answering other questions directed at others and arguing with Sondheim over which songs were included at the workshop, among other things. However,it's difficult to know which one to believe, since Sondheim has the same problem with Hal Prince's stories.

| posted: 6/30/2003 at 4:30:59 PM ET I also wished that Bernadette had said more during the commentary. I don't think that I would obsessively replay her comments...but it would have been nice to hear a little more of her perspective on things. I haven't listened to it in a while, but I do remember Mandy becoming very emotional towards the end. I think he is a pretty emotional kind of guy! The commentary feature is still very interesting even though Bernadette doesn't do a great deal of talking.
