I was just perusing through the old photos in the archive, and realized that, while Bern's hair has really never been styled any differently, it's gone through a few tinting changes.

So which do you guys prefer? I think I'd have to say that I prefer the recent-red she had going on in "Bobbie's Girl" (was it just me, or did her hair look especially amazing in that movie?) to the color she's got now. When I saw her last month, she had the blonder highlights (and I think the base color is a bit lighter) but I think I prefer it redder. Any other red heads in the group?

I was thinking about this today because my mother (who has curly red hair) just got a large amount of blonde highlighting put in, and I can't imagine why in the world she'd want to do such a thing to her hair. It's gorgeous. I swear, if I had red hair... argh.

So which do you like? Red? Blonde?

On Bernadette? Red. Though I'm comparing her really blond days to her current color. I haven't noticed blond highlights. I can't believe she went so long in life as a blond when her complexion is clearly made for a redhead. And I do believe this is why the costumers at Gypsy changed that awful first blond wig to red.

Definitely red.

Though I may be a bit biased since my own hair is curly and red.

red, but i did notice the recent blonde highlights she put in last time i saw gyspy. she probably lightened it up for summer. i like the color of her hair in bobby's girl, but not the cut as much...i think it was too heavy in front b/c of the lack of layers....and is it me, or did she magically get a haircut about half way through bobby's girl?

another question...am i wrong, or is her hair naturally brown?!? maybe b/c i'm a fellow sicilian with brown hair, but i swear you can see roots in the london concert...

Yes, she is a natural brunette but hasn't been one since she was 4 or 5 years old. I'm not sure she even remembers what she looks like as a brunette. LOL

Now I'm going to have to go back and watch Bobbie's Girl for the "haircut". Of course the story took place over a period of several weeks if not several months so I guess it wouldn't be unheard of for her to get a haircut.

i'm trying to find it right now and i'm sure there is a signifigant change in Bernadette's hair between the beginning, through the car, telling bobbie about her brother and when they are eating/Bernadette cleaning alan's clothes in the tub...what do you think?

The second time I met BP was after a concert in Tulsa. Her hair looked like a "blondish red" and then when I developed the pictures her hair looked like a deep red. I wonder how much the camera plays a part in the color her hair appears to be. hmmmmm....

It changes in the middle of Bobbie's Girl?? Have I just never noticed this? Oh.... ARGH. I think it's harder to tell with Bernadette's hair because... well, it's so curly. And she's always had it so long. I can never tell if she's got layers or not.

Was she really born a brunette? I had always heard that she'd been born a red-head. (Well, not red in the irish sense of red hair, but red as in auburn.)

LOL this is such a weird topic. But oddly enough, my mother and I were actually having this discussion the other day because I was watching the Tony's (again), and then I was watching her concert from the 70's. My mom thought she looked better as a blonde, and I like the red hair better.

LOL My mom said, "but she looks younger as a blonde." I was like, "Yeah because she was like 31 years old at that concert. Not 55!" Of course she looked younger. LOL

Can you imagine if she just completely changed the color one day....like dyed it black or dark brown! She's been a red head since like 1983. Her hair is famous. I think she was a brunette past 4/5 years old. Didn't her mom dye her hair blonde when she was 11 or something?
