Well,
Miss Peters was certainly in a hurry on April 1st. The stage door opened and she came out. She was literally outside for 30 seconds. Signed about 7 playbillsand hoped in her car. I understand she was tired. But there were plenty of people waiting to see her. I feel she has a responsiblity to her fans and she should try to accomidate them. Not just sign a few playbills not say a word and run. Think about it Miss Peters. if it was not for your fans where would you be? I still love you.

Well, I can tell you Steve right now, that you just opened a can of worms. Miss Peters is by far one of the kindest and most generous celebrities out there. She is known for signing as many playbills as she can, talking with her fans, taking photos, and even inviting them backstage. (As people on this website will tell you)Perhaps she honestly had another engagement at the time. The woman has been working extremely hard over the past 3 months, many days for 10 hours a day. She is by far exhausted. If you please, excuse her for being tired and human. I think you should respect her a bit more for all of her efforts. As for the comment about the fans, it's true Bernadette has many fans all over the world who have encouraged her through her whole career. But let me remind you, she has great talent and an even greater work ethic. She is known as one of the hardest working people out there.

Standing outside at 11:30pm--in cold weather no less-- signing autographs for fans( some of which didn't even go to the show and may not even plan on going or some people who are just there to sell her autograph on Ebay) after she's just performed an exhausting 3 hour show-- is a courtesy not a rule. She doesn't have to do it. I know of MANY celebrities who will either sneak out another door or just walk right into their cars. She's extremely exhausted. And extremely gracious!!! I've never seen her refuse to sign autographs! Even when people in "management" have discouraged her from it from time to time she still signed for people. Actually from what I've seen and heard...the whole cast is great about signing! I think your forgetting about a thing called TALENT...that is really what got her where she is. If she didn't have talent she wouldn't have fans. She is one of the hardest working people I have ever met and she never complains. Would you rather her sign about a 100 playbills and stand outside talking to everyone for an hour or would you rather see her stay healthy and well rested so she can be the best she can be as Mama Rose? She just put 100% ( and more) of herself into the performance of Gypsy you saw ...for you and for everyone else in that theatre. What she has if a gift and we're all extremely lucky that she shares it with us! I am assuming you liked the show since you stood outside at the stage door for her autograph....So, I'll go further and say that she gave you something to look back on and enjoy for a lifetime. Yes, I know you paid to see the show. However, shouldn't that be enough? I don't understand where it ever became a rule that anybody in show business HAS to stay after and sign things for fans.Give her a break.

A signature and chat after a performance isn't a right-its a gift and a privilege.

As others have, and will, point out, Ms. Peters is known as one of the most gracious and accomodating performers to her fans.

I'm tired of selfish people who think that performers owe them something other than the best performance they can give.

If you really cared for and respected her, you would say, get in that car, go home, drink some hot tea, get a good rest. Instead, you are selfish and demanding. Unbelievable.

(Having just seen Ms. Peters give everything of herself on the stage, I cannot let this go.)

LOL well, I feel better now. I did tell her to go home a get some rest when she mentioned how tired she was.

Bernadette is a treasure to the entertainment industry. She NEVER turns a fan away from wanting a picture or an autograph, even when others discouage those acts of kindness. Perhaps she can't get to everyone, but she does her best to accomodate.

She could be a total diva if she wanted to, but that's not who she is. Bernadette is extremely appreciative of her fans. Consider yourself lucky that you even saw her perform, when there are people on this board who cannot come to NY and see Gypsy. Most would feel privelaged at that, and not concerned that they didn't get to speak with her or get an autograph!

As for her "not saying a word"...hello! She has to rest her voice! She's not being rude, she's being realistic! she knows she has to take care of herself. She says thank you to her fans. What do you want? and hour-long conversation!?

open a can of worms is right... Ms. Paters is the single most gracious fan i hve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

i'll give an example. after her radio city debut, she took a very long time to come out of the stage door and when she finally did to numerous screaming fans, she gave a look of "i'm sorry, but..." and got right into her limo. the reason is because she had a charity event that was waiting for her and she was already so late. but when fans begged and pleaded for her to please visit, she actually got out of her limo and came over to sign some autographs!!! i know of no other star that would ever do that ever!

it is exausting doing so many shows a week and this being the conclusion of the first week, she still has to find her way back into the demanding schedule. give her a break, she's working very hard. and it can't help her state of well-being to read articles such as the one saying she should get slapped!

rock on, Bernadette!!!!
ciao

I guess all I can say is, "Ditto, ditto, ditto!"

Every single theatre fan should consider themselves lucky. If we are a huge fan of a performer, the chances of meeting them are extremely high. Think of the people out there who idolize movie stars. The chances of Julia Roberts' biggest fan meeting her are one in a million. Thankfully, our form of "stars" that we admire are more accessible.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is that there are millions of fans of movie and music stars out there that will probably never get to meet their "idol". So let's just be gracious that we have the opportunity and privilege to actually be inside the same theatre as one of ours and see a performance!

I have to agree with everyone that Bernadette is so wonderful to her fans. I have not had the chance yet to even see Bernadette perform live yet. Those of you that have met her or had the privilege to see her perform, I am extremely jealous I would give everything to see her perform let along get the chance to meet her.

i've had the pleasure of seeing her a few times in concert and the last time she took a while to come out but it was cold in green bay, and she did sign a few autographs but you knew she was being rushed and she did apologize that she wasn't able to spend for time there and from the looks of it she appeared tired, but she still took time she didn't have to she could have said i have a flight to catch thanks for coming but no, she did what she does best thank the fans she doesn't have to to this at all and no one should expect anything more of her than her giving 100% of herself to the audience during the performance. be grateful that you saw the show.

I went to the show Thursday April 3. My boyfriend wanted her autograph so we stood outside for about 20 minutes. It was very cold. Bernadette came out and headed straight to her car, just before getting in she turned around and started signing autographs being the gracious star that she is. She even spoke with us for a moment. She looked extremely tired yet she still gave back to her fans.

I will have to join the ranks and say that Bernadette is the most amazing person and the most caring star. She understands what she means to people and lets you as a fan know what you mean to her.

When I saw Bernadette in her concert in Atlantic City she was so gracious to her fans. She literally let over 30 people into her dressing room to sign autographs, take photos and to chat. She is the quintessential peoples performer. God Bless Bernadette. God Bless America.

Krasm-

I was going to mention AC also! She was so kind and generous that night, I will never forget it.

I went to see "Live with Regis!" a couple years ago when Bernadette was co-hosting, and I was standing by the fire escape (like in the path), and during one of the commercials, she came over and talked to me! Like during the whole commerical break, and she said she liked my earrings, so now I have to wear them whenever I see something with her in it.

I think we can safely say that Bernadette is one of the most giving and understanding celebs out there, with all of her generosity she gives to her fans.
