It's not listed on Bernadette's official site, but tickets for her Tanglewood Shed (Lenox, MA) concert are now on sale. She'll be performing on Sunday, July 8th at 2:30 pm with the Boston Pops Orchestra. Note: Tanglewood is an outdoor venue.

Good find AMH, I can't believe that concert with the Boston Pops isn't on her official site. I wonder if she is doing any other concerts that aren't on her official site.

Yeah, it's weird that it isn't on her official calendar. I wonder if it's just an oversight or if it's intentionally being left off for some reason.

The Tanglewood concert is the only one I've found that isn't listed on her website. I'm hoping she'll add more dates, though.

Her website isn't kept up very well. Her bio says that in the spring, she will appear in Follies at the Kennedy Center. Someone does, sort of, get some articles about her up, and occasionally tweets or retweets something. Even the concert date page lists "More information coming soon" for her Fort Wayne concert this coming Saturday. I don't know who is responsible for her online presence but they either aren't very good at it or it's not a priority on Team Peters. Her site is beautifully designed, and usually a pro designer will leave some sort of method for making updates with a program like Contribute or something, so you could literally give access to a 12 year old to make updates without having to worry about them messing up the site. Someone could spend 3 hours a week on her website, Twitter, and Facebook and make a huge difference.

This is totally off the Tanglewood topic but the twitter thing reminded me, I was talking last night to a friend about celebrities twittering, and how most of them are lousy at it or self-absorbed and boring, and we realized that bernadette's example of why she didn't tweet, that she would tweet about things like, "Come see the tortoise outside at the museum," is actually an example of a perfect tweet. You don't need to tweet your personal stuff, just interesting stuff. And she would have a lot of interesting things to say just about the animal stuff that comes up for her, and be great at it without giving away the slightest personal tidbit. So anyway, I think she needs a serious social media intervention!

It is too bad that Bernadette's site isn't kept more up-to-date, especially since she's still very active in her career (and her fans obviously adore her). If I remember correctly, a while back her website had more information about the concerts, like where to purchase tickets, but then shortly after everything changed to the way it is now. Weird.

I also find it funny that Bernadette doesn't send out tweets because she doesn't think they'd be of interest to anybody. Just like the tortoise example, her tweets would probably all be so charming and down-to-earth that one couldn't help but be captivated by them. I don't have a Twitter account, but I would certainly create one if Bernadette were the one doing the tweeting.

I have a tweeter acct and started following some of the FOLLIES cast members. Elaine Paige always makes me laugh with her tweets. I never knew she was so funny. She has a good mix of funny tweets and the "come see me here" tweets.

Doesn't Elaine speak to her fans individually via Twitter? Bernadette is so attentive to her fans, I'm surprised she doesn't utilize Twitter just for this reason. Then again, she'd probably be overwhelmed with tweets so maybe it's best that she doesn't.

Terri White got up to about 600 followers, and did respond very individually to people. She also chose to make references to her partner by name, was more personal. Elaine Paige had thousands, and was funny but couldn't get to people as individually, though she did tweet me a couple of times. Bernadette's volume would probably be closer to Cher's. Usually what they do is start tweeting a couple of times a week, and then they respond to as many @ tweets as they can while they are on. At a certain point they realize they can't respond to everyone, so they come up with a system to decide how to deal with it. And if someone asks something inappropriate, you don't have to respond. Though Cher's tweets are funny in part because she gets into it. It really varies widely how celebs use twitter, and she could just do it in a way that felt good to her. No need to reply to anything negative, reference romantic partners, anything like that.

And if Bernadette tweeted, she could have told us about Tanglewood! I knew about it but I'm sure lots didn't. And we could also ask her what skin care products are good too, also hair since the ones she last recommended aren't manufactured anymore. She's obviously found something good!

Which hair products did she recommend?

I think we should start a petition, collect signatures, and send it to Bernadette, requesting her to start tweeting.

She has such a great sense of fashion and is always very trendy, I'd like to know what she thinks about certain designers and current styles. Like you said, Ripley, her hair and skin products would be of particular interest to many women, too. It's certainly something I want to know since it's clearly working for her.

I can't see her spending too much time on a computer or cell phone sending out tweets, though. But maybe one day she will...

They were some specific Graham Webb products, but I looked for them and they've changed their line. The stuff she recommended was discontinued. I think she's changed things up anyway since then because her curls are much looser now(for her). At first I thought it was for Sally but I saw a clip with her and Elaine Stritch during ALNM and they were very loose there. If you search these forums for Graham Webb I think you will find where someone typed in her recommendations for an interview. She also said in a later interview that there's a website she checks, I think it's http://www.naturallycurly.com/ but I'm not sure. In a video Q&A she said she uses lots of conditioner and product.

I can't see her sitting around tweeting, but everyone has some times where they are sitting between things, riding around in a cab, etc., and I know she has a cell phone. From what she said about twitter, it sounds like she really thinks that it would be people trying to pry into her personal life and that she would be expected to give out details of her love life and stuff, and maybe it would be like that with some celebs and I know some do get really personal. But I think that most of us Bernadette fans respect her for keeping her private life discreet instead of using it for cheap publicity. I really don't want to know who or if she is dating or how serious it is or isn't. I don't care about her politics, I don't care what she believes or doesn't believe spiritually or religiously. I do think she's made a lot of great decisions about taking care of herself and presenting herself, and I'd love a lot of big-sisterly/motherly advice along those lines. I bet a lot of her fans would feel that way too.

Bernadette does seem like a very private person, so I can understand why twitter wouldn't appeal to her, though it would be nice to get updates on her career.

Here is a copy of a post about Bernadette in More Magazine:

"More seems to be a fashion and beauty magazine for women over fifty. Apparently they have a regular column where different celebrities list the products that they use in six categories: skincare, makeup, hair, fitness, perfume, and clothing designers. Here are Bernadette's answers from the April 2002 issue.
Skin: Coppertone WaterBabies Sunblock, Creme de la Mer for night, La Mer moisturizing lotion for day, Exuviance by NeoStrata Evening Restorative Complex.
Makeup: Lorac concealer, Chanel Perfecting Pressed Powder in Dawn (superfine), Chanel Glossimer in Volage, Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara, Vincent Longo Glimmer Formula Shadow in Topaz Smoke, Duo Blush in Beyond.
Hair: Graham Webb shampoo, Kerastase conditioner from L'Oreal.
Fitness: five time a week work outs with weights, StairMaster and gyrotonics; small meals with low carbs.
Signature scent: Ambra di Venezia by Montgomery Taylor from Takashimaya.
Fashion: (for this one I'll give an exact quote) "Hate shopping--love clothes. I mix close-to-the-body, trendy pieces from Tom Ford for Gucci, Vivienne Westwood and Nicholas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga with my favorite jeans. Lately I've been wearing a delicate Prada chiffon dress with a black leather jacket. It's that contradictory mix of feminine and tough that makes things look new. My weekend look is just my Brazilian jeans with a tee and sexy Jimmy Choo shoes."

Thanks to Karen for the original post!

From berniehare: Ms. Peters, I have recognized that we both share a unique trait that you are known for,...UNRULY CURLY HAIR. Unfortunately, my hair is brown and yours is red, but what are you gonna do? Anyway, I wanted to know what you do for your hair to keep it looking SO fabulous! I have tried basically everything on the market, but it seems like nothing can tame my wild curls. Do you have any suggestions?

Bernadette responds: Yeah, there's actually a website... A curly hair website. You need Graham Webb hair products. Get the silk protein conditioner and Making Waves. That should do it.

"I think if you're patient enough to wait, then I'm patient enough to sign your program." Such class and generosity. She is the real deal.

Loved that, thanks for finding and posting that! And yes, at the stage door, there is ZERO impatient vibe from Bernadette. She really gives off a vibe of mutual respect and acknowledgement of the humanity of her fans. You know, she is really from the blue-collar working class, and she respects that some people save up for a long time and sacrifice a lot for the chance to come see her. She knows what that means and doesn't take it for granted, and wants people to go home with a good feeling. She and Dolly Parton would make me feel great about not coming from money or anything fancy, if I needed anybody to make me feel good about it, that is.

Thanks for the articles, Jean and Jennifer! I'm definitely going to check out some of those beauty products.

In regard to the Twitter discussion, I'm glad Bernadette doesn't like to give away much of her personal life. I have a lot of respect for her because of that.
