Thanks for the articles, Jean and Jennifer! I'm definitely going to check out some of those beauty products.

In regard to the Twitter discussion, I'm glad Bernadette doesn't like to give away much of her personal life. I have a lot of respect for her because of that.

I think it is hysterical that she uses Coppertone AND La Mer. Talk about affordable and expensive juxtaposed.

Younger readers should keep in mind that she was 54 at the time of the article, and what she used then (or uses now) might have been too heavy or pore-clogging at a younger age. La Mer is VERY rich and heavy and not for anyone who is still prone to any kind of oily skin issues. They have an oil-absorbing lotion but honestly, if that's your issue, you don't need a $220 moisturizer yet. You really don't!!!

Chanel also no longer makes that specific lip gloss or pressed powder. Montgomery Taylor does still make that perfume, though Takashimaya closed...and it smells heavenly.

And if you are small-boned or little you have to do weights, or you are at very high risk of osteoporosis later and also it gets very hard to eat anything without blimping out unless you have muscle mass to burn it, so get to lifting. I tore a hamstring dancing and was put on weight lifting as part of my physical therapy, and it has been AMAZING. I was already healthy and pretty fit, but I have more energy, I can eat more and stay the same shape, I sleep better and I have not had so much as a cold in two years (and I can dance just fine now, again).

Exercise is certainly very beneficial!

I'm a young woman in my twenties and I'm definitely an advocate for weight lifting. I always look forward to my weight training days and never have a problem getting motivated--it's cardio I don't like. I know a lot of women don't like the idea of lifting weights because they're afraid they'll get too bulky and muscular, but that just doesn't happen on a casual weight training routine.

With regard to wanting Bernadette to "twitter" with her fans, I feel it would be a big mistake! We know many things about her life through interviews and articles, and I think it unreasonable to expect her to read thousands of twitters, much less to begin to answer them! Suppose something would be mis-interpreted, and some scandal sheet would get hold of it...well, you know the rest.I thank God Bernadette is not associated with the so-called "stars that make the daily news! She is a very special lady and let us be thankful for her graciousness to us at the stage door and for all the good she does outside of her career. Someone said to me that I was a "groupee" following Bernadette. My reply,"I am proud to be a follower of such a lovely and talented person".And please don't even think of petitioning her about "tweeting"!

To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...

Don't worry, Patty. I promise not to start a petition.

Nobody here wants Bernadette to tweet about her personal life. Like Ripley said, some big-sisterly/motherly advice about leading a healthy lifestyle, fashion, hair and skin products, etc. would be nice. It's completely Bernadette's choice, of course, whether or not she wants to start doing this, but I certainly wouldn't complain if she did.

I'm with AMH. Of course it's up to Bernadette if she tweets or not, and how she uses it if she ever does. And I am sure that she would use it in a way that is classy, if she did, because that's just who she is. She's not suddenly going to turn into a Kardashian or Snooki or something just for tweeting. For all we know she does have a protected Twitter account that she can use with family or close friends. I have a private one like that, along with a public one. At this point though, I'll love and respect her no matter what she ever does or does not choose to do/say/reveal.

I don't think "twittering" is that big of a deal. She does have a twitter acct and has someone else "twit" for her. I do appreciate the witty people that I do follow on twitter. I love to read Audra McDonald's tweets which generally make some reference to Chipotle or Kettle Chips. I also read Elaine Paige's tweets, she has a good sense of humor, as well as many other celeb and non celeb tweets. I'm also thankful to Terri White for all of her tweets during FOLLIES. Especially the "diva fight" photo which was hilarious.

Bernadette wouldn't have to read tweets all day. She could read them if she wanted to, but doesn't HAVE to just like fan mail.

I actually got a twitter account when I found out she was on twitter. I was looking forward to her tweets, but for whatever reason she chooses not to and that's fine.

It's just a way to reach fans quickly.

Product update!!

I have been using the Kerastase stuff, the stuff in the orange containers for curly hair that you want to wear curly (they also make stuff for if you want to smooth and straighten it, so don't get mixed up), and I have been using their shampoo, conditioner, and styling creme for a few weeks. I have some varying hair texture...the crown of my hair is Bernadette-curly, and it is loose curly at the hairline and my face, and at the nape of my neck it is just wavy. I had been using just whatever was cheap at the drugstore (after seeing not much spectacular come from using Bumble & Bumble or Moroccan Oil products) and about all I could manage was some degree of wild frizz or that beachy crunchy scrunchy thing, which, I'm sorry, but it looks like crap. That or the wet, greasy look...always gross and unprofessional looking. Apologies to anyone who wears their hair like that, but I wouldn't be caught dead in public with my hair like that, so I would usually straighten it or put it up.

Well, it has taken some patience, but I'm getting some pretty nice defined curls with this stuff. I just tweak the wavy stuff with a little curling iron when it's dry, and it's great. I also follow instructions on the curly hair website about not combing it out of the shower, and never brushing it. But anyway, yeah, those products work pretty well, and are less expensive than some I have tried. If you have curly hair that you want to wear curly!

Ambra di Venezia...the place she said she bought it from is closed but you can find the perfume itself. It reminds me of Giorgio with a more sophisticated and maybe subtle effect. It's more complex, but it's definitely the same scent family as Giorgio. It has tropical flower notes, like hibiscus, jasmine, a little bit of a citrus undertone, and a very, very slight bit of musk or maybe sandalwood, but something earthy. I read a product review that said it was definitely for nighttime, too strong for day...well, yeah, if you're still in school, it might be a little too sophisticated for a daytime scent, and I wouldn't wear it to go play tennis, or take a bath in it at 8am. But if you're reasonable it could be fine for day OR night, in my opinion.

Chanel face powder...they seem, again, to have discontinued the exact kind. I tried this though because I do use a powder foundation, but I'm at an awkward stage where my skin mostly thinks I am a teenager so I can't use anything that is going to contribute to moisture beyond the moisturizing sunscreen and primer...BUT I still have just a few bits that can look cakey or dry if the powder is not fine enough. The closest thing seems to be Chanel's Double Perfection natural matte powder foundation. I like it a lot. You can build the coverage and the sponge they include is actually usable, it includes a nice mirror, and it evens me out nicely, absorbs oil without turning orange, and doesn't cake or settle into lines.

I haven't tried the eyeshadow or any of the other products...I already have my favorites and a huge supply! I was legitimately out of perfume, hair product, and foundation, which is why I tried these.

Thanks, ripley!

I also purchased Ambra di Venezia and it does smell quite good. The scent is not overpowering and seems perfectly fine for day, like you said.

I've been trying Graham Webb color locking shampoo and conditioner, and absolutely love it! This stuff makes my hair so soft and my color isn't fading as quickly as it did before.
