From: Nevada | posted: 8/9/2005 at 4:46:41 PM ET I saw Gypsy, but we couldn't stay for the stage door because my sister wasn't feeling well. I still wish we could have stayed. Anyway, I was wondering if Bernadette Peters actually talked to people at the stage door, or were there so many people that she just signed the programs really quickly? I love it when actors stay to talk to the fans. I was just curious.

She seems interested when people talk, but some people would just not say anything to her other than, "You're my idol." I can't even contemplate how many times she must have heard that.
It's not like she could stay with one person for a long time to talk when there is a crowd waiting to meet her; but if you were telling her something or talking with her about something, she is not rude. She wouldn't walk away while you're talking.

She wouldn't spend much time with each person, but she'd say hi and thank you. She wasn't the slightest bit rude. She was very sweet.

| posted: 8/10/2005 at 4:56:23 PM ET All I can say is that at the one and only time I did the stage door thing, she was really sweet and got around to pretty much everybody. She seemed to really enjoy it and she talked a bit to a few people. A group of young girls had her for a few moments, telling her that they were taking acting/dancing/music classes and Bernadette said some encouraging things to them. She must have quick-posed for at least a dozen pictures. I gave her an album cover to sign, and she flipped it over a couple of times looking at it for a bit, as if she was thinking "haven't seen this in a while!". It was alot of fun to be there. It was also freezing cold and the wind whipped thru Schubert Alley like crazy!

From: Arizona | posted: 8/11/2005 at 2:17:50 PM ET She signed playbills and took pictures with everyone waiting (about 20 people) even though it was 15 degrees with wind chill. There were some people who had come from either Australia or New Zeland to see Gypsy and she was very impressed and spent a little more time talking to them. I thought that was really sweet of her. Most of us couldn't even talk by that point, it was so cold! We had been waiting for half an hour.
I know she took time for everyone, every night during that winter.

From: NYC | posted: 8/11/2005 at 2:32:55 PM ET After the Peekskill concert, her road manager came and told us that unfortunately Bernadette was already late for a reception and she wouldn't have time to sign anything. We all were disappointed of course, but stayed just to be able to cheer for her when she came to her car. She saw all of us standing there (probably 30 people or so) and immediately put down her stuff and came over to us. The road manager just shrugged his shoulders - she is the boss after all! Every time I have talked to her at events, she has been very gracious and has always answered my questions. I think the more people there are, she has less time because she wants everybody to have a chance. Her assistant Patty will also answer questions about the tour or things like that.

| posted: 8/11/2005 at 5:58:20 PM ET The first time I met her, it was 4 degrees outside. She came out and took the time to sign everyone's playbills and take photos. She also asked people where they were from, etc. She made sure she got to everyone before she left. Also, at CBS two weeks ago, she actually came up to us and initiated the conversation. But, there were only a handful of people there, so that might have had something to do with it. But, I have met her several times now and she has always been gracious, kind, and generous with her time. Even in Boston, when she was in an incredible rush to catch a flight, she still took the time for photographs. Very classy.
