I have no idea what those standards are, but certainly must include taking some great photos (and I know that at least a few of you take really excellent photos); chatting with Bernadette and reporting about the conversation; and reporting in great detail about the concert, the wardrobe, and any other fun thing.

Note to the Sisterhood and anybody else who will be there: Don't forget to ask Bernadette about her upcoming albums, i.e. first is she planning a release party and second, when is she going into the studio for the jazz album?

There should absolutely be private concert for Fanadettes with a reception that Bernadette attends afterward. Have a great time and please report back as soon as you can.

From: NYC | posted: 6/26/2005 at 2:05:50 AM ET Hi All - We are now post-concert and it was another great evening with Bernadette! We tried to post with my blackberry when it was about 90 minutes preshow and even had a good line about Chip turning so green with envy that he would be cast in the Wicked sequel as the Son of the Witch, alas my blackberry wasn't working. So Ashley, Mandy, Moljul and I headed up north courtesy of Ashley (not ashleysuch LOL). We met up with Karen (KLP) at the Division Street Grill and swapped Bernadette stories, etc. What fun! We all had pretty good seats - Moljul and I were on the 4th row left orchestra. Bernadette sang the same line up as Houston with subtle nuances in her banter and her song performance. She wore the sparkley silver gown again - why not she looks fabulous in it! Some of the musicians in the orchestra were in the Gypsy orchestra so it was a bit of reunion for some. The best funny point of the evening was when Bernadette tried to re-write history in the reference in "Fever" - she paired Captain Hook with Pocahontas! Ashley and Mandy pointed this out to Moljul and me. I knew I heard something different but I was too mesmerized to notice! After the show we tried to find the stage door but ended up in a dark back alley next to a winnebago! The Paramount is still being renovated so there is no inside dressing room - so they gave Bernadette a dressing room on wheels! We met some other fans waiting - a poster from the pre-Kevin fan board, some lurkers from this board (you know who you are) (we guess Wendy didn't make it back from the wedding in time) and some new ladies who were very funny (they are Gail and Shelly who volunteer at Broadway Barks). There were some people who had backstage passes so we had to wait a while for our chance. After a while, Mr. Tall & Good Looking Tour Mgr (now dubbed Howard by Ashley and Mandy) came and told us that Bernadette wouldn't be able to stay any longer because she was already 20 minutes late to the gala. Instead of leaving, we lingered on to get a glimpse of her with a group of maybe 20 others. Right as Bernadette was getting into the SUV, she realized that we were all standing there and she handed off her stuff and came right to us. We all got pictures with her and she signed our stuff. She was as gracious and lovely as always. When we arrived back in the city, Moljul invited us for a mini-marathon of rare vintage BP footage. What a great night. Okay we're signing off now - turn off the lights - the slumberparty is over.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 6/26/2005 at 6:29:28 AM ET Thanks so much for the report--sounds like you had a good time. I forgot this was a gala--sounds like she was committed to attending it. I wonder if she likes doing that. Who else was in her entourage?
Now: having seen Bernadette in concert several times now, Sister Rose, what is your overall impression of her concerts. And, I believe that at least one of you saw her in concert for the first time--any special thoughts or emotions you can share? And, for the at least one who hasn't seen her in concert for a while--any special opinions? Finally, what are we going to do today? And can I come?

I'm gonna have to make it to one of the Fall concerts. Who's going to which? Since I can only afford one, I'd like it to be whichever has the most Fanadettes in attendance.

| posted: 6/26/2005 at 11:28:03 AM ET Ah, Sister Rose, you missed the part where I felt up your thigh at the beginning of Move On. Or were trying to save me the embarrassment? Oh well, too late. Seriously, I got a little excited when the intro to Move On started and grabbed Sister Rose with excitement. LOL
It's pretty much all been said but as the person who hasn't seen her in a while (I guess you were referring to me, Jean), it was really a wonderful night. I believe I had seen her perform all the songs except Fever. Wow. What a number, even with the Captain Hook mistake. I mostly loved the little snap movements she made while on the piano. Not the actually snapping of her fingers but when she changed position of her body to the rhythm of the music. Hopefully you all know what I'm talking about. I did not miss Sooner or Later at all. The sound quality was a bit disappointing at the beginning with the orchestra sounding like it was in mud and overpowering Bernadette on her first song. I'm not sure if they adjusted it or I adjusted to it but Bernadette was in amazing voice and the crowd was very into her performance. And the added enjoyment of a gentleman who sat 2 seats down from SisterRose and I, yelling Bravo after every number made me giggle.
It was so much fun to finally meet Mandy and Ashley and Karen2 who promises to post more often now that she knows we are friendly. The viewing session back at my place took place because I realized in the car that I was in the presence of near Bernadette Peters Fan Virgins who had never heard of, let alone actually heard, Wait, Johnny, for Me. So clearly I had some educating to do. LOL Seriously it was fun.
My one disappointment of the night was my pictures. After my camera came through for me with awesome pictures of the last performance of Gypsy, I was hoping to repeat my triumph at the concert but most did not come out well. I guess I haven't been taking too many photos lately and lost the touch. I'll be sure to bone up so my pictures from the Hollywood Bowl are better.

From: NYC | posted: 6/26/2005 at 11:52:23 AM ET Karen - there is Sisterhood talk about going to Bethlehem - it should be an enchanted evening for sure. I know emails have been going back and forth about it. I'm not when the tickets go on sale to general public. I think PA Fan is the captain of this project.
I have always been a fan of live performances in general. Its the real test of talent in my opinion. I'm a huge fan of Broadway and opera but seeing a performer in concert is the ultimate personal experience with that performer. Some just get up, sing and leave without giving you anything of themself - but some have that magic touch to pull you in and you feel like you're in their living room. I have seen hundreds of concerts from performers in many different genres. Bernadette is one of these performers who draws you in and makes you feel like she's singing to you. Her banter is scripted for the most part, but she's brilliant at delivering it - a true comedienne. (Bette is like this as well). It is thrilling to see her glamour on stage and she gives 110%. Ashley is with me (Mandy already had to hit the road since she is headed to California tomorrow - she's going to be at the Hollywood Bowl concert - yes I'm jealous) and she agrees - she went to the Boston as well. Her input is similar - she feels like Bernadette is singing to her. She also adds that she has noticed that the audience seems like they are respectful, knowledgeable, well-educated in general and almost like a family - we're all there for this special event. I would mostly agree with this - there are the patrons of the particular venue who will go to any concert because its in their package, or the socialites who will go because its the right to place to be seen...but there are the real fans, who whether or not are as dedicated as those of us who post on this board, have followed her career and are invested in seeing her mulitiple times. For instance, the ladies we met who work at Broadway Barks had seen her in Fort Lauderdale and also before at other venues over the years and are committed to seeing her again (I hope they will post here so they share their humorous tales with us all). We saw other people we recognized from Boston too. Its when you make connections with other fans at the stage door that you realize how much Bernadette has touched people. Ashley is pointing out how amazing it is that Bernadette (input from me - and Kevin because of this board) has brought such a wide range of people together - we are from all over the US and are from all walks of life. It is really is amazing and special. I have to say that some of you are the best adult friends I've made in years. Even Moljul was telling us that she has known some of you and others since the pre-Kevin Bernadette board and is best friends with some - it is just a thrilling thing. I don't think I've heard of anything else like and most of friends from work or home are astonished the connections I've made.
(Okay we just got really excited about Bethlehem - ROAD TRIP!)
