Well she and Michael apparently love to dance so I'm sure they have a great time living in the Miami area.

Yeah, thanks for the link. I love the picture too. Sounds like she was just there for dinner and not the party. Isn't the Forge a fairly well regarded restaurant?

See those dancin' feet [from January 2000]:

"Off the Stage But on Her Toes

It is not enough for BERNADETTE PETERS to give people the song and dance on Broadway. It turns out that her first vacation in nine months from "Annie Get Your Gun" was a kind of busman's holiday, which may explain her joy about returning to the show tonight.

'We need a rest from our vacation,' she said.

Indeed. Ms. Peters and her husband, MICHAEL WITTENBERG, a senior portfolio manager for Salomon Smith Barney, spent most of their time in Miami taking salsa lessons and putting them to use.

'We took lessons in the daytime and danced almost every night,' Ms. Peters said of her vacation. Getting away from the night-after-night-and-matinees-too
routine 'was really a lot of fun,' she added, 'but at the end we were exhausted.'

Or one of the vacationers was, and it was her, not him. 'Michael already has the phone book open,' she said, 'to look for dance places in New York.' "

Excerpt from: JAMES BARRON with Joe Brescia and Glenn Collins, New York Times, January 18, 2000

awwww that is so cute! I had no idea she loved to dance! To be honest, she always gave me the impression that she didn't liek to dance, i guess because of that Actor's Studio interview with James Lipton. Well thats wonderful. thanks for the article.

Yeah, one of my favorite interview shows is when she teaches Ainsley Harriot to salsa dance--dripping with charm and charisma, both of them!

I was just thinking about that. It was so funny and cute when she taught him how to salsa dance and at the end he picks her up and twirls her around. He has to be 3 times her size and he looked like he was picking up a feather or something.

Of course I also think that on the evening of the day that show was taped was one of the times Bernadette had to leave the stage during a performance of AGYG to throw up! What exactly did Ainsley put in those, what was it, sweet potato something?

Another favorite moment of that interview - Bernadette mashing potatoes - oh dear Lord, the woman is wise to stay out of the kitchen.

Can't believe I remember that much of it. Really must find that tape.

Hey, the woman beat a perfect SALSA rhythm on those potatoes!

Yes, I vaguely recall someone saying she got sick that evening.

Well more like rap but maybe she was going for something musical.

I just remembering yelling at the TV: "They just need to be mashed, you don't have to actually kill the potatoes as well as the bowl. It's a masher not a jackhammer." LOL

Oh, I missed that interview. Does anyone have a copy of it? What exactly is salsa dancing?

I just re-watched that episode. If I had a dollar for every time she smelled one of the ingredients (in particular that "garlic in a tube") I think I could retire! Maybe it's an Italian thing.

She even said "the kitchen isn't one of my better rooms!"

Cute interview & salsa dancing. Unusual host...not sure what to make of him.

"I'm not upset about losing the money, it's losing all the stuff."
