| posted: 7/7/2004 at 9:28:13 PM ET There are certain websites you can go to, Rose, where you can set up official online petitions for whatever cause you may have.
That way it's not like a spam email or anything.
The petition gets posted at a specific web address, and people can go there, read the statement and choose to sign or not.
There is usually a deadline as to when you can sign, and then the signed petition is sent to (well, lol I don't actually know to whom it is sent)?

Registered: 3/14/2004 | posted: 7/8/2004 at 12:13:28 AM ET The last time we’ve seen GYPSY on film was as a made for TV special in the 1990s, starring Bette Midler. Midler was inducted into a very elite group of women including Angela Lansbury, Rosalind Russell, Tyne Daily and the amazing Ethel Merman. However, on May 1, 2003, Broadway said, “Welcome” to it’s newest Momma Rose, the legendary powerhouse, Bernadette Peters. Ms. Peters took every blow that came her way. There was either marvelous praise, or malevolent criticism for her protrayol as the scary, sexy, and all around determined mother of two. GYPSY changed the lives of so many. Some of the theatre goers only saw the show once, others saw it over 50 times. No matter how many people had the honor to see this amazing revival, in some way, it effected each of them. GYPSY fans, Bernadette Peters fans, Stephen Sondheim fans, and many others are very distressed that there is no filmed version of the 2003 Revival for sale. This petition is designed to put an end to all the disappointed fans out there. Please Please Please help all the fans out there! We need you!!!

The only thing I can think of is that you may want to include something about how the tape could be made for Bernadette's sake also, that such an amazing performer like her deserves to have a tape made of one of her best, most touching roles ever. I don't know how you'd word it, but just a thought. It sounds really good already though, you might not need it.

From: Maryland | posted: 7/8/2004 at 1:31:06 AM ET I think this is really good. But I would also add something along the lines of how this will be good for posterity. A lot of people didn't get to see Gypsy unfortunately because of location or age or health or for whatever reason. This is a great way for those people now (and the people in the future) to experience Gypsy.
And Bernadette's portrayal of Mama Rose is so unique that it would be wrong to not preserve it.
But I'm really glad you've decided to take the initiative, Jarred. Hopefully it'll work.
