Chris Noth, Hal Linden, Karen Mason, Richard Kind, Spalding Gray and Bernadette Peters are among 50 or so celebs who will read the names of Sept. 11 victims for a New York 1 tribute marking the tragedy's first anniversary. The special airs Sept. 13 at 8 p.m.

I wonder if part of this reading of the deceased's names won't be on CNN?

| posted: 9/13/2002 at 4:15:09 PM ET Once again, I wanted to bump this announcement up to the top of the board for anyone in the NYC area. Kevin's original message says it starts at 8 p.m. but I have seen something similar announced on NY1 at 6 p.m., so you may want to tune in then.

| posted: 9/13/2002 at 7:33:53 PM ET Well I'm sorry to say the special did start at 6 p.m. and runs until 11:30. There is a list of the celebrities on the NY1 site (in order of appearance) and Bernadette was first. But it says the list will be repeated 3 times during the program run so they'll start all over again soon. But if anyone reads this before 8 you may want to tune in in case they start the list over before 8 p.m.

From: London | posted: 9/14/2002 at 4:49:06 AM ET In England we had this whole special news show that went on most of the day on BBC 1. they kept shwo the names of the deceased being read at Ground Zero and I didn't see Bernadete there. On Wednesday evening they showed the video footage filmed by those french brothers. It was narrated by Robert DeNiro. They were actually in Tower 1 when it collapsed. I was horrible and they kept hearing sickening thuds of people who were jumping out the windows of the floors above. It was awful.

| posted: 9/14/2002 at 8:02:25 AM ET I don't know about the rest of you, but I thought it was depressing and a little eery. I don't understand what kind of order they were reading those names in, but it certainly wasn't alphabetical! and they didn't give any warning that it would start...all of a sudden, you would just see people start reading names.
I missed it at 6pm, but I tuned in around ten to 8...and they had already started (b/c I thought it didn't start until 8pm). Anyway, Bernadette was on around 8:13pm...but that airing was cut off (right as Tom Wopat was speaking); at least by me it was?
I didn't know it was going to be on again...then I turned my television back on around 10:40 and saw it...but the celbrities weren't in the same order? Did they switch it around each time?
That Carole King song they played was beautiful though
