Ok...I don't know if ANYONE else was at Friday's performance (3/5) or not...but I must say that it was AMAZING!!! I saw the show earlier in October and it has GROWN so much. Not only Bernadette, but the ENTIRE cast was AMAZING!!!!! The show was on a whole new level. It was such fabulous acting, and then energy was unbelievable. Bernadette was definitely in TOP voice last night!! Some particular moments that stand out are the first duet between she and Herbie(it was SO believable)...LITTLE LAMB was very touching...the strippers were AMAZING!!!! The regular Tessie Tura was out for the night, but the gal that did the role was a HOOT!! Tammy seemed to have SO much fun with her role, and I REALLY saw an amazing progression this time of her character. Bernadette's character was so much clearer and the sense of pathos for her character that night was UNBELIEVABLE!!! Of course Rose's turn was amazing. I felt like the only idiot in the front mezzanine screaming my head off.
Quite honestly...I don't see how a show like this was going to close. I think that this is what broadway is and should be all about! This was a touching performance!
I took my aunt and my uncle who live in NYC. They both see shows often and are very critical of shows...my aunt in particular hasn't really been fond of Bernadette's work(I know it's hard to believe)...but this performance changed her. They were both blown away at how good the show was...the cast was(including Bernadette). KUDOS to the cast, crew, and orchestra(who played a mad overture last night...this was FABULOUS!!)
XOXO
Justin

Justin, Great to hear the show was so great.

By the way, Julie Halston who was the original Tessie Tura has left the show so probably the woman you saw is the new Tessie. Her name is Gayton Scott, I believe.

Ms. Halston was Electra. The regular Tessie, Heather Lee, was out sick, and Cathy Trien (a fabulous understudy) went on in the role.

Oh man, where was my mind. Tessie not Electra. Thanks for correcting my mistake.
