She was amazing as usual. She looked great and rested, wore a black jumpsuit with black bolero jacket, and sang "Some People," with Marvin accompanying her. After the song, they sat at Marvin's piano, and chatted. She's renting a house in Connecticut, and the pipes burst! Everything's under an ice coating, but she was laughing and good-natured about it. Regis asked how long Gypsy would run, and she hesitated and was non-committal, but said "we're thinking about (implied: staying on with)it." Her voice was great, glad I'm home from work today!

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 1/16/2004 at 2:11:27 PM ET I took a vacation day, so I'd be able to watch and tape at the same time. She was sooo good--looked gorgeous, was in high spirits, in good voice, and really acted the number amazingly. The interview was too short as always, but at least it wasn't as brief as I was afraid it might be. She told the story that was in the Times about the little girl singing to her at the stage door. And she was very funny talking about the pipes bursting at her house. She said "The bathroom facilities exploded...and my husband wasn't even using them at the time." Then she made this sort of Groucho-like gesture with an imaginary cigar, and said "Get it? That's just my bad taste; making a bad joke--but Kelly got it." Then Kelly Ripa said somrething about how she loved bad taste humor. It was all very charming and entertaining. I wish she could have announced she was extending her contract, but oh well, maybe soon. It was a really good appearance--a lot of fun.

It was quite funny that Kelly was the only one who laughed immediately at Bernadette's little joke. And I loved Bernadette's remark "I mean does my couch have to defrost now". LOL

A few more items from the interview: when Regis asked if she really started in the Gypsy chorus years ago, she said yes and now she's starring in it, which meant someday Kelly would be Oprah. Regis said something about her having vocal problems earlier, and she corrected him and said it was a cold. She said she had taken some three day antibiotic which wasn't strong enough. She also said that on her day off she likes to just relax and watch Turner Classic Movies. At the end, after she told the story about the little girl singing at the stage door, they asked if she herself was like that when a kid. She said no, she never sang in real life--only on a stage when someone was paying her. That's about all I can think of right now. I know someone had mentioned they couldn't watch, and wanted to hear details.

Anybody know if they reshow Regis late at night? Wishful thinking...

From: MN | posted: 1/16/2004 at 10:56:23 PM ET One thing that I noticed on Regis...was something that I was expecting him to do at the beginning of Bernadette's performance/interview.
-That being, that Regis always calls her 'The First Lady of the American Musical Theatre'. I notice that just about almost everytime she comes on.
This time, I noticed that he said that right as they ended her interview and they were going to a commercial. Before Regis' mic volume faded, he said "The First Lady Of the American..." or something like that. lol
I couldn't help but start to laugh, because
A.- I noticed that.
B.- That he always seems to call her that LOL.
...sorry, that was sorta random aside from the other things that people mentioned about her Regis apperance today.
Take care,
Stacy
