Lots of other shows dropped quite a bit so maybe it is just a down time for Broadway! Hope the show picks back up soon!!

Registered: 8/2/2003 | posted: 1/12/2004 at 9:00:26 PM ET All shows lost a lot of money last week. "Gypsy" will continue to play as long as Bernadette is starring. With her in it, there's still an audience out there. So don't worry about a sudden closing notice at the Shubert anytime soon.

| posted: 1/12/2004 at 9:11:50 PM ET Unfortunately this is a terrible time for Broadway. A lot of shows will probably close in the next few weeks. But I do agree that Gypsy will stick around for a while. They have made a lot of money in these last few months and I'm sure they will be able to keep it open during the next few months while business is bad until the tourists are back again this spring.

From: Toronto | posted: 1/12/2004 at 10:17:05 PM ET I really hope most shows stay open. I can't imagine what it's like for a cast to be told they are closing.
For purely selfish reasons I really hope Gypsy is still around during the summer because I'm dying to see it yet again, and the summer is HOPEFULLY the next time I will be there!!!!
You either got it, or you aint!

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 1/13/2004 at 6:59:38 PM ET It's pretty obvious that the January slow season has started on Broadway; most of the shows dropped in capacity/gross. Speaking as one of those out-of-town tourists, I rarely go to NY in January-February--too cold, too much chance of bad weather. (As an example, the private bus company that I take to NY had 6 buses going to NY on Dec. 27, but only 1 will be going tomorrow. Not saying that all of these people are going to a show, but a good percentage are.)
The only thing that's getting me to NY in February are those 2 wacky "Producers", and the lovely Marsha Mason.
