Fot those that missed the announcement, I see that Thoroughly Modern Millie will close on June 20.

What did you all think of this show? I saw it Sunday and did not know much about it, except it won several Tony awards in 2001, I believe? I thought it was good, but a little slow, to be honest.

I really liked it. The cast recording is actually one of my favorite Broadway Cast Recordings. I have not seen Susan Egan, but I did see Sutton Foster in it twice and thought she and the rest of the cast were fantastick.

I enjoyed Sutton Foster and the show too.
I put "Millie" over "42nd St" when people ask for suggestions.

NINE and Urinetown are more what I like, but as far as old book musicals go, "Millie" is good.

I also found a few parts in the first act slow but it picked up in the second act and I enjoyed the fact that they added a few twists to the ending that were not in the movie. I'm a huge fan of Julie Andrews and Mary Tyler Moore so it will never be quite the same as the movie for me.
Also I made the mistake of seeing it the day after seeing Gypsy.

The movie was cute, but I actually liked the Broadway show better than the film.

I saw the show last April, and yes, it won SIX tonys . I loved it, and as much as I like the movie, the play was definitely better, mostly because Millie is spunkier and Sutton Foster really did a great job.

I was fortunate enough to see the original cast when I saw it in the winter of 2002. I thought it was wonderful and very inventive. Sutton Foster, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Harriet Harris were amazing. I haven't gone back to see the new cast and I really have no desire to. The cast recording is great though!
