| posted: 9/17/2003 at 1:59:26 PM ET You can rent the movie starring Marsha Mason and Richard Dryfus to get an idea of the story and characters. The movie is slightly different from the staged musical, but it's worth watching. If you live in or near NYC, you can always go to the library at Lincoln Center and watch Bernadette and Martin's musical version.
I'm not really familiar with the character of Donna.

| posted: 9/19/2003 at 5:13:23 PM ET Well most (if not all) Broadway shows are taped for preservation. They are kept in the Library at Lincoln Center and can be viewd by people either doing research for a role or research for a paper. There is a whole process you have to go through in order to view the tapes; not just anyone can watch them. I've never done it, so I really don't know what's involved. Hopefully someone else here can help you.

| posted: 9/22/2003 at 3:16:00 PM ET I'm not positive but I don't believe The Goodbye Girl, The Musical was captured on tape by Lincoln Center. It seems I checked once before.

Although the Library can't afford to record all shows, I would think that with the people involved in TGG, that the Library would have tried to tape it. However, for a show to be taped, I believe, all the union members involved with the production from the actors to the creators have to sign off. If one person does not sign, the show can't be taped.
