If you haven't seen Next to Normal yet you should definitely make a point to do so.... soon. Alice Ripley is beyond incredible. The rest of the cast is amazing as well, especially J Robert Spencer. Their chemistry is electric and moving. Bring lots of tissue!! A lot of the scenes are truly heart wrenching. This is by far the best thing on Broadway right now and one of my new all time favorites. It's sort of on the same lines as Rent and Spring Awakening; with a rock based score, social relevance and profoundly human characters. Despite what you might read about it the theme isn't really as much about mental illness or a dysfunctional family, as it is about suppressed grief and the ramifications it has on every one in this particular family. And everything that goes on within the show is centered around that.

If you've already seen it I would love to know your thoughts...

I've been following Next To Normal for a few years now, and finally got the chance to see it on July 27th! It's such an unbelievalble show. It has even become my all time favorite Broadway show, and I've seen A LOT of shows! Alice Ripley, who is also my favorite Broadway actress besides Bernadette, is absolutely brilliant in this role. I can't even put into words how much I love her and her performance as Diana! I was also fortunate to meet Alice and the rest of the cast after the show at the stage door, and everyone was so so kind and gracious and actually took time out to talk to each person waiting. Alice and J. Robert Spencer were especially nice. I was blown away by how kind they truly were. Can't say enough about how much I love this show and how wonderful it is!
