I've been wondering --how does someone become a personal assistant to a celebrity? What special requirements are needed? What exactly do they do? arrange transportation, set up appointments, etc.?

Hi Patty, I don't know what a PA does, nor what the requirements would be, but one thing I'll bet--and that is a willingness to work, or be on call, 24/7.

Sorry to post anonymously...but I'm too darn tired to register...but...
a PA doesn't really have to have "special" requirments other than the ones set up by the person needing the PA. The PA needs to be able to seriously multi-task and needs to be 100% organized...willing to be on call 24/7 365 days of the year including holidays...the PA would need to put the other persons professional needs ahead of their own personal needs during the job...there would always have to be trust...usually a confidentiality agreement is signed by most big names and their PA...generally a lot of people will hire friends or friends of friends to be their PA...it should be someone trust worthy and someone who isn't afraid to scream and shout if something isn't going right for you...they should be able to say..."Mr. Blah blah will NOT be taking any photographs at the stage door, we ask that you respect this policy..."
Hope that helps.
ED
