I have to turn in a senior quote and want to use something from Sondheim preferably Gypsy. Does anyone know a good one?

"Oh no, you won't. No, not a chance. No arguements, shut up and dance."

The eggrolls quote was the first thing my mom said when I asked her. Thanks.

I think

"Curtain up! Light the lights!
We got nothin' to hit the heights!"

would be great!

P.S. Is that Kate Winslet in your avatar?

Yes it's Kate Winslet. She and Bernadette are my favorite actresses so I love that pic.

I'm kinda dating myself here, but my senior quote was "Don't dream it, be it."

There are a bunch of good Sondheim quotes, especially from SITPWG. I almost used "Anything you do, let it come from you. Then it will be new."

Make the most of the music that is yours...

Being a senior in a different way...

"You go into the woods, where nothing's clear,
where witches, ghosts and wolves appear.
Into the woods and through the fear,
You have to take the journey."

or

"Stop worrying where you're going. Move on.
If you can know where you're going, you've gone. Just keep moving on."

Or both. The two work well together.

(I have these two stuck on my computer.)

Stick with Emerson! What did you use? I love quotations, and I'm really curious.

"The next thing to saying a good thing yourself, is to quote one."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, of course

"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us." ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Aaah, you beat me to it, futuremamarose87!!

I love that one too!

I like this from Emerson also (this is good when you get a job):
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."

But then he also said:
"I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."

I used one of Vonnegut's many quotable quotes for mine. "Everything was beautiful and nothing hurt."

You can find passages where Emerson declared his love for quotes and others where he declared his hatred of them. But this is the man who was famous for saying "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" so I guess he had himself covered.

Thanks futuremamarose and SingOutAnnie. The ones you provided are great.
