"Curtain up! Light the lights!
We got nothin' to hit the heights!"
would be great!
P.S. Is that Kate Winslet in your avatar?

From: Atlanta | posted: 9/24/2004 at 11:48:37 PM ET There are a bunch of good Sondheim quotes, especially from SITPWG. I almost used "Anything you do, let it come from you. Then it will be new."

"You go into the woods, where nothing's clear,
where witches, ghosts and wolves appear.
Into the woods and through the fear,
You have to take the journey."
or
"Stop worrying where you're going. Move on.
If you can know where you're going, you've gone. Just keep moving on."
Or both. The two work well together.
(I have these two stuck on my computer.)

"The next thing to saying a good thing yourself, is to quote one."
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, of course

I love that one too!
I like this from Emerson also (this is good when you get a job):
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense."
But then he also said:
"I hate quotations. Tell me what you know."

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 9/25/2004 at 3:50:43 PM ET You can find passages where Emerson declared his love for quotes and others where he declared his hatred of them. But this is the man who was famous for saying "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds" so I guess he had himself covered.
Thanks futuremamarose and SingOutAnnie. The ones you provided are great.
