I'm planning my first trip to NYC. I want to stay within walking distance to the theater district. I was wondering what the best hotels are in the area. I was considering staying at either the Wellington or the Marriott. The reviews are good for both, but I want to make sure that the area around the hotel is good too.
The shows I plan on seeing are:
Follies, How to Succeed in Business, Anything Goes, and Book of Mormon.
I would appreciate any suggestions from people that have been or live in the area regarding where to stay and what other shows I should see. I will be in New York for 1 week. I also plan on doing touristy things during the day.
Thank you for any suggestions.

I just stayed at the Intercontinental on 44th and 8th and LOVED it. It was even cheaper, though not by much, to the Marquis and only one block from Times Square.
Depending on when you are going, the Discovery Times Square exhibits are really neat. They usually run about $25 a ticket. Currently they have Harry Potter (props from the movies) and Pompeii.
I've seen all of the shows you have listed and enjoyed them all!

Thank you very much for your response. I am so looking forward to going I don't think I'm going to sleep the entire week I'm there. : )
