I didnt know she doesnt like being called BERNIE! When I saw her final performance of AGYG, there was a banner in the box office that read, "Bye Bye Bernie!" Hmmmm...

"Do people call you "Bernie"?
(Pause) Just a few.
So you don't like it?
No, I don't. "
I think Carol Burnett called her "Bern" on her 1991 (?) tv show.

Yes, I think I read or heard somewhere that a lot of her close friends call her Bern.

They could always just REALLY shorten her name and call her "B."
As in, "Love ya, B.
Have a good show tonight, B.
See you after the show tonight, B."

My friend's mom is best friends with Bernadette's cousin and she told me that her family calls her dette but she can't stand that from what I've heard. My friend also claims she was at her wedding but I'm not sure I believe her...

Your mission, should you choose to accept it: Find me a nickname that doesn't suck. 1,000 dollars to the winner with the best name. Also, house seats for Gypsy, a photo with Bebe Newirth, and Harvey Feirstein's voice on your answering machine.

Or how about seriously making it a Broadway Cares Fundraiser. Entries have to pay $1000 and Bernadette chooses which one she likes best and the winner gets prizes and meets her, etc.
