| posted: 6/4/2003 at 9:37:38 PM ET I was just wondering if anyone went to the event in the alley today? If so how was it? I cannot find anything online on how it was. I really wanted to go to it but my mom made me go to school.

As for the event in the alley, I got there a little late but I saw performances from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LION KING, GYPSY! (Blanchard and the girl who plays June), and Brian Stokes Mitchell singing The Impossible Dream. BERNADETTE PETERS!! presented an award to Mayor Bloomberg and he had nothing but nice things to say about how important Broadway is to NYC. It was a great event with a large attendance. I actually stumbled on it by accident so it was a quite pleasant surprise.

www.broadway.com
then look at photo ops, Bernadette is in picture 2 with Louise Pitre & 7 with Tom Wopat (who looked quite good, by the way--has he lost weight?) &12 with Gerald Schoenfeld &15 with Tom Cavanaugh
A short video; Bernadette standing behind Mayor B.:

www.theatermania.com has a few pictures (photo file)..none of Bernadette, but one of Tammy and Kate singing.
And one more from playbill.com

I was at the event until 12:05, but had to leave before Bernadette came on. It was fun, and I got to watch some of the performers mingling before and after they went on.
