I was just wondering if anyone went to the event in the alley today? If so how was it? I cannot find anything online on how it was. I really wanted to go to it but my mom made me go to school.

Hi-- I went to the GYPSY Matinee today and first off, it was sensational. Bernadette was brilliant and in perfect voice. Tammy Blanchard was also astonishing.

As for the event in the alley, I got there a little late but I saw performances from BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, THE LION KING, GYPSY! (Blanchard and the girl who plays June), and Brian Stokes Mitchell singing The Impossible Dream. BERNADETTE PETERS!! presented an award to Mayor Bloomberg and he had nothing but nice things to say about how important Broadway is to NYC. It was a great event with a large attendance. I actually stumbled on it by accident so it was a quite pleasant surprise.

P.S. I took digital pictures of the event if anyone is interested. I got photos of Brian Stokes Mitchell, the mayor, Blanchard/co-star, Bernadette Peters, and others.

It'd be great if you could send them along. I'll post them in the photo album, if it's OK.

Yes, yes. Please send them to Kevin to post in the photo album on this website. I'm sure we would all be happy to see them. My friend who went said Bernadette had on a very beautiful coat.

I will send them to Kevin, though I don't promise too much high quality. I was kinda far away. But you can definetely see who the pictures are of.

A couple of sites for pictures and a short video:

www.broadway.com
then look at photo ops, Bernadette is in picture 2 with Louise Pitre & 7 with Tom Wopat (who looked quite good, by the way--has he lost weight?) &12 with Gerald Schoenfeld &15 with Tom Cavanaugh

A short video; Bernadette standing behind Mayor B.:

www.theatermania.com has a few pictures (photo file)..none of Bernadette, but one of Tammy and Kate singing.

And one more from playbill.com

I was at the event until 12:05, but had to leave before Bernadette came on. It was fun, and I got to watch some of the performers mingling before and after they went on.
