The Guardian interview, April 11, 2014
"Pieces of the roles you've played stay with you. I love going to see Seurat's paintings. I'm in London for the Olivier awards, and I am looking forward to visiting the National Gallery again to see Bathers at Asnières, which Sunday in the Park creates so beautifully." [" Bernadette Peters will perform at the Olivier awards at the Royal Opera House in London on Sunday. ITV1 will screen highlights of the ceremony at 10.15pm on Sunday."]

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 4/14/2014 at 7:34:02 AM ET A brief mention of Bernadette's performance at the OLivier Awards:
"As for the ceremony itself? The usual grab-bag of inspiration and inertia as befits an event that will never match the sheer fizz of the Tonys in precisely the same way as the Baftas never have the personality - for good or ill - of the Oscars. The tradition of bringing over a Broadway baby or two - last year saw Idina Menzel and Matthew Morrison - presumably explained a late appearance by a still-luminous Bernadette Peters, who reached the very high note at the end of "Losing My Mind" often not attempted by interpreters of that particular Sondheim song."

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 4/14/2014 at 8:57:15 AM ET I thought it funny when co-host of the Oliviers, Gemma Artiton, started the ceremony by welcoming the audience in the Royal Opera House and "the millions watching on TV at home ....all you women and gay men". Just the mere mention of Bernadette's name at the start of the Oliviers received a huge cheer from the audience. She looked great and gave her Sondheim song all that she had. I recorded it and will try to figure out how to get it from my hard disc to youtube but, hopefully, someone will get there first. Leigh Zimmerman mentioned the ceremony was streaming live on the Tony website so perhaps Bernadette's song is already there.
Matt Wolf must have seen a different show. The ceremony in the Royal Opera House was wonderful, packed full of excerpts from current London musicals while, outside in Covent Garden Piazza, the crowds had been entertained all day by West End performances. The reason it's not like the Tonys is because it's actually the Oliviers and we aren't American and we do things our way .... British theatre is innovative, ground breaking, wide-ranging and doesn't just exist of "fizzy" musicals and rehashed revivals Mr Wolf!
