So I'm going to see Bernadette Peters in 2 weeks!!! YAY! I'm so excited!!

But anyway, I've heard all of these stories of people who met her at the stage door, and I was just wondering, does she usually meet fans there? Or were those people just lucky? Because I am travelling across half of Australia (and will attempt to get over my crippling fear of flying) just to see her (so worth it) and it would be awesome if she could sign something or I could get picture.

Cheers,
Soup

Soup, I was so hoping someone on this board would be attending her Adelaide concert. Lucky you! Have a wonderful time and be sure to report back to us with lots of details.

"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990

"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

I sure will! I'll give a full recount!! I CAN'T WAIT! The only thing I don't want is to have to take the 3 hour flight to get there =[ I'm not a very good flyer... but it will be worth it in the end! I think someone else on this board is going...tamashii I think her name is...but she's going to the day before mine, I'm sure she'll have a report!

Cheers,
Soup

Yes, I'm going! I'm starting to get pretty excited now that it's so close! I'm dragging my mum along with me. We're driving- about 7 hours or so, which isn't too bad. I'm really hoping that I'll get the chance to meet her at the stage door, but I'm a bit worried about asking an employee of the theatre where to wait- I don't think stage door meetings are quite as commom in Australia as they are in the states, and it might be considered rude or something here.

I hope you have a great time, Soup. I'm sure it will be worth the flight. We'll have to compare notes here afterwards!

Haha, we sure will! That's what I was thinking about the stage door as well...but I'm gonna ask anyway. There's no way I'm travelling all the way there and not at least TRYING to meet her/get an autograph! I hope I do! And you too!

Good advice in any stage door encounter is to be polite, ask permission and know where the boundries are. Of course many of us follow those steps and then immediately look for the first opportunity to be sneaky and get around our own way, but the last thing you want to do is to make a theater employee or tour manager nervous. Always emphasize that you only want a minute of time and if you want autographs show you have the materials and the pen ready. Performers can be pretty tired after a show, and usually they are being directed around by staff people and don't really know if they have time to speak to you or not. Be nice!

Hey Soup and tamashii! I hope you both have the best time this weekend at the BP concert, ENJOY!!! And please let's all know how FAB she was.

She might even sing an Aussie encore ... like "Tie me Kangaroo Down, Sport" or a Kylie Minogue hit! Knowing how much she loves to wring the true meaning out of lyrics she could really do something with "I Should Be So Lucky, lucky, lucky, lucky, I should be so lucky in love" ...

"There’s a lot in the world for us to turn our attention to — helping people, helping animals, and helping animals help people." ... Bernadette Peters, August, 2007

It is not a stretch to imagine that she might do something by that great Aussie composer Peter Allen.

Or maybe a duet with Dame Joan Sutherland!

She did do a tribute to Peter Allen. I think it was called 'I Honestly Love You'. Amazing.

Cheers,
