Childrens books enjoy massive sales in the UK -- just ask JK Rowling! I've yet to see "Broadway Barks" in any of the UK bookshops I frequently haunt, but came up with the idea of ordering a spare copy from one of the big chain stores. I'm working on the theory that once they receive my order they will take a look and be sufficently impressed to get some copies in to sell. Though I can just imagine little British kids asking "Which Broadway, Mummy?" since most English boroughs have their own "Broadway" (which just means "Main Street"). Perhaps if Bernadette changed the British edition to "WEST END WOOFS", it might stand more of a chance?

Two of my friends and I will be driving up in the early morning, to be there when the store opens....hopefully. The concert was AMAZING yesterday!!! At the very end, right before she walked off stage for the last time, a few other people and I gave her a standing ovation, and she was waving and she blew a kiss to the audience, and she looked right at me!!!!

From Internet Network: 24.128.182.x | posted: 6/7/2008 at 7:44:44 AM ET Hi
I have been looking everywhere for the lovely Bernadette Peters in Gypsy. My daughter is a big fan, and a member of this forum. I would like to surprise her with it for her 16th birthday. It would mean the world to her. My email, if anyone can help show me where to look, is temry@yahoo.com. Thank you so much, I appreciate anyone's advice.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 6/7/2008 at 10:35:03 AM ET Thanks for the review, Scottie. That reviewer, Michael Wood, pretty much summed up how I feel about the book. He's right about the magnificent contribution that the illustrator, Liz Murphy, made to its success. The book would be so much the lesser without it. I wish she and Bernadette could make some joint appearances. I feel badly that Murphy isn't getting the attention due her for her incredible artwork. I suppose the publishers don't think she has the "name." She's so talented though. I would be interested in hearing how the two of them collaborated--how the process actually worked.
