Come on, you concert attendees. Don't be shy. We want to hear all about how great it was.

In the meantime, here's a link to an All That Chat thread today. It started off as a rave for last night's concert and then turned into a general discussion of Bernadette in Gypsy.

The blogger said that the flowers startled Bernadette so badly that she jumped. Then she said that was one of the best parts--what the heck!?!

OMG!!!!! Last night was the most amazing night of my life! I got to go to my first Bernadette concert and I got to meet her!!! Anyways, I had 6th row seats and the moment the music started to play I was breathless. Then as she walked on stage I had tears in my eyes because I couldn't believe that I was there and it was completely surreal. I have dreamt of this day since I discovered her when I was fifteen years old. Anyways, she looked amazing in a sparkling gown and she sang beautifully. When she sang "Nothing Like a Dame" she came down and sang to a guy that was maybe 10 feet in front of me, it was hilarious. I would go through the songs that she sang, but I'm sure most of you know. (If you don't feel free to ask) It was interesting to see the rest of the audience’s reaction to her. I was one of the youngest people there. I'm 21 and the rest of the audience was full of senior citizens brought over by buses and people in the age range of 40-60. The concert was held in a small auditorium that only held close to a sold-out 1300 people. I think the older gentleman next to me thought I was nuts because I knew all of her songs, I knew the words, and I clapped very thunderously after every song. When she said goodbye and took a bow, I made sure to start a standing ovation as soon as possible. One guy in the corner stood up and clapped before me, but I was second (unfortunately, because my plan was to be first) anyways she came out and did her Tony performance of Gypsy ( and oh God was it amazing!) Anyways, I started the second standing ovation and she sang two more songs. She sang I believe a Sondheim song, and one other.
Her comments during the concert were very similar to the concert at the Royal festival hall and her Sondheim Etc. and Etc. Etc. cds. She would comment about not singing the song in the show etc. My favorite part was when she was talking about meeting up in an art gallery on accident. If you had tickets within the first eight rows you were invited to attend a reception in which Bernadette was invited to after the show. Being the amazing person that she is, she came to the reception to meet with fans. Anyways, she hinted that she was going to attend to the audience, which made me even more ecstatic because it meant that I would finally get my chance to meet her.

We finally got to the art gallery and I couldn't look at anything, I could only look around for her. Finally she showed up and a bunch of older men and a few women gathered toward her. She was very gracious of course. However, she only wanted one person to take pictures. So they had this guy named Myles as a photographer. I, at the time, didn't know this and I was trying to snap a photo with my cell-phone, however, I did feel like a jack-ass afterward because I think that she may have saw me, and I totally didn't know, and otherwise wouldn't have ever have gone against her wishes. Anyways, it was finally my turn to talk to her. She smiled at me and I told her my name and that 5 years ago I sent in my pic to the Live with Regis show when she was a guest co-host and they showed my pic on the show. I'm pretty sure that she didn't remember. (LOL) But, there is always that hope. Anyways she asked me if I was a performer and I said that I am. She signed my playbill and she took a picture with me. I was the last person she talked to before she disappeared. I'm not sure if she left or if she went upstairs. I was very sad to find out that my sis-in-law wasn't able to get a picture for me because they wouldn't let her. I sought out Myles and begged him for a copy. And I almost cried this morning when I saw that he had e-mailed me the pic. I think that he must have realized that it meant the world to me. I have dreamt about this day for so long. She looked amazing! It was so weird talking to her as a person and seeing her in real-life. I watch something that she's in or listen to her music everyday. I'm just so amazed. Today waking up, I was still running off my natural high from last night and I'm still drunk off of life. I can't believe that I got to meet my idol. Sorry this is so long winded. However, now I can finally be a part of the group that has met her. I am so fortunate!

PS. as far as the flowers go..it was a little odd, they threw lilies and I believe irises.

PARK CITY, UT – Broadway sensation Bernadette Peters will perform for a packed house at The Eccles Center on Saturday, March 24. Tickets are sold out for the event, which features Ms. Peters and the Utah Symphony. According to The New York Times, “Bernadette Peters is a revelation!” Critics adore her. Fans flock to Broadway, movie theaters and Carnegie Hall to catch a glimpse of the “voluptuous Bot-ticelli Venus” who also radiates “preternatural innocence.” And her voice has captured the hearts and ballots of numerous prestigious judges. The Tony award-winning actress first took to the spotlight at age three. Since then, she’s trans-formed herself from the Witch in Sondheim’s “Into the Woods,” to her Emmy-nominated role on FOX’s hit show “Ally McBeal.” She’s appeared in 17 films and received all manner of honors from a Golden Globe to a Hollywood star on the Walk of Fame, to a Drama Desk Award. In ad-dition to Grammy-award winning Broadway cast albums, she has recorded six solo albums and performed with symphonies across the country. Joining Ms. Peters on stage, the Utah Symphony will turn the Eccles Center into the Beehive State’s 1,300-seat version of Lincoln Center. The symphony boasts its own impressive reputa-tion, regularly appearing with classical and Broadway music’s elite such as Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman as well as touring internationally. Founded in 1940, the Utah Symphony performs 250 concerts, accompanies several Utah Opera productions and participates in educational outreach each year. Park City Performing Arts Foundation presented symphony for the grand opening of The Eccles Center in January of 1998. “We’re honored to have such a versatile and phenomenal performer grace our stage along with the outstanding musicians of the Utah Symphony,” says PCPAF executive director Teri Orr. “It will be a magical evening.”(continued)
