Sony/BMG finally has a release date scheduled for the remastered CD recordings of Sunday in the Park With George and Into the Woods.

They don't have a cover image to view, I wonder if there will be some new artwork. Is there any extras included? Or is it just a straight remastered edition of the original?

They both have a few bonus tracks but nothing too exciting. SITPWG has "Putting It Together" from that revue's cast album & "Sunday" from the Sondheim: a Celebration at Carnegie Hall concert. ITW has three cuts from an unreleased 1991 "making of..." documentary, including Maureen Moore singing "Boom Crunch." You'd think they could have come up with something a little more stimulating than that.

Oooh, I love that version of "Sunday" and I suppose if I didn't already have it I would be thrilled to find it included on the remastered CD. But why include something that's available already? Surely there must be some other Sondheim related treasures hidden away in the record company's vaults that deserve an airing at last.

I know. That's what I was thinking too.
