From: NYC | posted: 4/10/2006 at 3:41:15 PM ET So my co-worker just brought me one of the support bracelet the ASPCA kids were handing out - they are orange of course. I may just go down to Union Square to at least check it out.

From: NYC | posted: 4/11/2006 at 6:55:11 AM ET If she was there, then she arrived earlier or later...I saw Ally Sheedy and that soap star who used to be on One Life to Live and now has a Lifetime Women talk show. It was sort of organized chaos. There was an irritating band called Pet Rox that had the bass up all the way - I had to leave because it was hurting my ears. It was all festive though.

From: NYC | posted: 4/11/2006 at 8:26:56 AM ET I skipped the latte after all cause I needed some serious sleep and there's really no point to coffee without caffeine...I shall enjoy the latte this morning and it will taste delicious because I will think to myself that this from Jean.
Is anybody loving that we're getting lots of Bernadette coverage this month? I decided to be sensible and prudent and not go to the $500 cocktail party where she might sing one song with Sondheim or 20...the rationality is that there are sooo many entertainment opportunities that I want to take advantage of and spending $500 on one would keep me from enjoying up to five more. Oh well.

From: Edinburgh, Scotland | posted: 4/11/2006 at 11:21:59 AM ET I received something through the post this morning which sort of backs up what Bernadette is saying on the ABC News video about rescued pets "rescuing" their new owners - hope you don't mind if I share... It is a newsletter from an animal charity I'm involved with and it says that the Primary Care Trust of a local borough in South East London, Lewisham, has recently implemented a UK Government National Health Service directive and has started "prescribing" dogs for some patients. The NHS is giving patients a sum of money to help their health needs and encouraging them to invest part of the money in rescuing and looking after a dog. They add that the government medical experts agree that owning a dog is good for you - for all sorts of different reasons. It ends by saying "Prescription: One Dog: To Be Taken - on long walks."
as Bernadette says....just keep moving on.....

I worked for many years in a treatment facility that had "pet therapy" sessions a couple of times a week. It was the patients' favorite time. All of the dogs were rescues. It was amazing. Several times I saw elderly people weep, they were so happy to be around pets again - and they would become very animated and talkative and share lots of experiences about their own pets and memories from early in their lives. It was an extraordinary experience.

| posted: 4/12/2006 at 1:38:13 PM ET Definitely helpful. My grandmother had a stroke about 3 years ago. She didn't suffer paralysis but she did have a great deal of trouble communicating. Her brain just didn't know all the words she used to and relearning it all was difficult. A conversation with her was very slow and very frustrating for her. She often knew what she wanted to say but just could not come up with the correct word. Anytime the conversation involved more than she and another person, she would often withdraw into herself because she couldn't keep track of the conversation. My mother moved in with my grandmother to care for her and brought her dog, Mike. She would often say that my grandmother would talk to Mike and have long conversations with him with very little struggle. Sometimes the wrong word would come out but it was a good conversation. It was like all the pressure was off of her. Mike would listen and understand and not judge her for not being able to communicate at an adult level. He has been instrumental in her recovery.

From: NYC | posted: 4/15/2006 at 6:16:15 AM ET So according to Michael Starr, Bernadette was there - she must have been there early. And I saw Linda Dano with her dog so "the incident" with John O'Hurley's dog must have also happened before I arrived because I didn't see him. I did see Ally Sheedy (not looking that glam) but entirely without a dog.

"Finally, Bernadette Peters shows up. Yes, this is all happening in front of Whole Foods at the Square. She looks young without her face looking like an army sheet stretched from corner to corner. Ms. Peters has actually allowed herself to acquire wrinkles. And she looks beautiful. She stepped inside the ASPCA-mobile to view the cats. Everyone was respectful of her space."

Registered: 6/26/2003 | posted: 4/24/2006 at 5:28:08 PM ET I came across this in an online article:
Similarly, ABC News recently ran a three-minute interview with actress Bernadette Peters on "This Week With George Stephanopoulos'' and then offered the full 15-minute interview in its entirety on ABCNewsNow.com.
I don't know if they really meant 15 min. which is twice what's available on This Week's extended Voices segment. It's a paid subscription thing but there's a 30 day free trial. With my connection it would take me probably two hours to see the whole thing if it's still up there.
