Oh,wow. Thanks so much for finding this. I think Christine Baranski is wonderful.
Even more excited about this. Hope ABC decides to pick it up. When are those things usually decided? I know nothing about the television industry.
They are going to change the advertising, aren't they?

Bernadette Peters and Christine Baranski, together as a team, just seems fabulous. How could it not get picked up by ABC, with that combination?

Two such great, talented stars?? Both wonderful comediennes?? I'm with Karen: How could they NOT pick it up??
(and if they don't, I just about give up on TV altogether. Of course, the writing's got to be good too, but I can't imagine these two joining forces if the scripts are not at least a notch above the ordinary.)
Have to add too -- it would be great to see two smart, adult women on TV again. They are getting fewer and farther between....

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 3/16/2005 at 10:51:44 AM ET SingOutAnnie, that's just what I was thinking. There must be something very special about the scripts to attract the two of them to the project. In the end, it all boils down to the writing.

Registered: 6/7/2003 | posted: 3/16/2005 at 2:36:47 PM ET Jenn, to answer your question "when are these things usually decided"--I really have no idea at all about how the business of TV works. But, last year in mid-May 2004 ABC announced it's 2004-05 schedule, so if that's any guide, perhaps we are looking at the same time frame this year.
(Just spent a few minutes reading a couple of reviews of "Sally and Marsha" --Bernadette got really good reviews. I think she surprised Frank Rich and Walter Kerr by returning to the NY stage all grown-up and an accomplished actress--not just an adorable comedian/singer.)

From: tonawanda,n.y. | posted: 3/16/2005 at 11:41:39 PM ET Christine Baranski was born in Buffalo,N.Y.(my home town) and was raised in a suburb (Cheektowaga,I believe) She was inducted recently into the Shea's Buffalo Hall of Fame -it is our glorious renovated theatre that can re-produce such lavish shows as "Lion King" and "Phantom".For a middle sized town and finacially in trouble, we have great theatre and it's supported well.Just a big plug for the town that gave us this great talent! She and Bernadette will make a terrific comedic pair. Way to go,Christine and Bernadette!! Can't wait!
To the loveliest lady of song!
You will keep on giving me joy forever...

From: NYC | posted: 3/18/2005 at 7:14:39 AM ET Now all we need is a press-release saying that Angela Lansbury has been cast as the grandmother! What a phenomenal cast it would be...
(I know I saw or read Angela saying that she of everything she's done, she would still like to try doing a comedy sitcom) (and she is going to be on one of the Law & Orders this season) (challenge to Jean who is the queen of digging up internet info)

umm, I don't know-it's a tough one--need to find just the right combination of search words--there are some 450 hits for Lansbury in 2004; of course a lot are just mentions because of Manchurian Candidate.
But thanks--anyone with a computer, access to Lexis-Nexis or some such, and tons of time (being retired helps) can do it. One of my job descriptions over my long career said something about "analyst"--I guess I still have some of that left.

Next for Lansbury -- Murder, She Laughed?
Sun Mar 7, 2004 11:14 PM ET
By Cynthia Littleton
LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Angela Lansbury has a message for the town's comedy writers: she's in the market for a half-hour television series.
"It something I've never done. It seems a shame not to," she said matter-of-factly Friday during an "Evening With . . ." session held at the DGA Theater -- part of the Museum of Television & Radio's 2004 William S. Paley Television Festival.
Reflecting on her 60-plus years in showbiz, Lansbury told her worshipful audience that she misses performing in front of a live audience and thinks multicamera sitcom work could be a pretty close approximation. And as an actress, she's ready for it, Lansbury added, noting the many stages of life
she has played over the years.
