hehe

From: Maryland | posted: 10/14/2004 at 1:21:07 AM ET I saw that, and I was pissed. Bernadette was essentially a don't for having naturally curly hair. She was under the section "tight curls vs. wavy hair." Personally, I think Bernadette's hair is gorgeous. Having really curly hair myself, I envy how nice she can make it look.
Sure, Jessica Simpson looks nice with loose waves in her hair, but that's not the same as someone like Bernadette who wakes up with those tight curls. All Jessica has to do is wash her hair, and the waves are gone. Bernadette washes her hair, but her curls aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
I showed the section to my sister, who at the time was making fun of me for watching Bobbie's Girl. (some people just don't understand...) Even SHE got pissed off. She said "what the hell is Bernadette supposed to do about that? It's like criticising someone for being white or black or whatever. It's not something that she can just change." Hehehe.
I remember reading in an interview that Bernadette used to iron her hair everyday so that it would be straight. Now, that's a serious don't. Being comfortable with what God gave you - that's a DO!
Stupid Glamour people.

Please, America, do NOT emulate ANYTHING about that talentless, packaged
Oh. I just can't go on. After the debate last night, and other news, it's all just too, too depressing.
I desperately need a musical comedy fix.

Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 10/14/2004 at 10:45:58 AM ET I just took a look at the mag. The comment that they put under Bernadette's picture was "Don't cement your curls with unlimited goop." What's that supposed to mean? Since when did she ever do that? Unfortunately, I can't threaten to stop reading Glamour, since I never did in the first place.
Very weird that they would pick someone famous for her beautiful hair as an example of what not to do.

From: Maryland | posted: 10/14/2004 at 2:12:25 PM ET Jessica Simpson's hair was a "do." And while she isn't really my cup of tea, I wouldn't exactly call her talentless since she has a 5 octave range.
What I think the Glamour people were saying was that Bernadette was using gel or whatever to GIVE her hair those curls. In other words, Bernadette was forcing her hair to be super curly and not giving her hair a natural, soft, flowing look. Clearly, the people at Glamour don't know anything about Bernadette Peters or they would know that her hair was naturally extremely curly, and there's only so much a person can do to "correct" that.
I can see what Glamour was trying to get at - which was that people should settle for softer, more natural looks instead of going over the top. They just really used the WRONG person to prove their point. Someone like Christina Aguilera would have been a much better person to use for a "don't" than Bernadette.

From: Bradenton/Sarasota, FLA | posted: 10/14/2004 at 2:31:23 PM ET Simpson has a five-octane range?? I think she needs better marketing then because I've never seen anything about her like that (what I have seen sorta falls into the here's-the-latest-blonde-bimbo category). My apologies then for the talent crack.
Glamour can print what they want, but I'd love to have Bernadette's hair. (Hence the photo at left being a favorite!)

Registered: 5/3/2004 | posted: 10/15/2004 at 6:53:17 AM ET There's nothing wrong with that. I have to admit that I too think she is quite talented. Although I believe she is not at all in the same league that Bernadette is in and cannot be compared to her.
