If there's a time for everything,
A time to sigh,
A time to sing,
Then, say,
Maybe it's time for me.
I tried to
Do without romance, and yet,
My heart's been dancing since we met,
So, hey!
Maybe it's time for me.
I see a million happy lovers,
On the street, bythe sea...
Why not one more happy lover?
Why not two?
Why not you?
Why not me,
While I'm dreaming.
If tomorrow's right for me,
Why can't my bright tomorrow be today?
Maybe it's time...
Why can't it be time...
Please let it be time...
This time
For me.
This morning when I awoke,
I became aware
Of a strange new feeling
That came stealing
through the very air.
All morning the feeling grew.
I was bound for something new
And then a miracle came into view..,
A miracle resembling you.
Why should I be afraid to try life,
Justfor once..,
Just for me.
Don’t I have a right to my life?
Fancy that!
Fancy me,
Fancy free for the first time.
Must I wait another night?
I want my bright tomorrow right away.
Maybe it’s time...
Why can’t it be time...
Please let it be time...
This time...
For me."
I'd rather not comment on the quality of the song, except to say in Bernadette's expert hands I think (Please, my opinion only) that that she makes it much better than it is.

"Then, say, maybe it's time for me....
So, hey! maybe it's time for me."
I'm sure Sondheim is eating his heart out with envy.

From: Maryland | posted: 8/12/2004 at 11:07:02 PM ET I bought the cd. It has a great cast.
But the lyrics...ugh. I find them to be very repetitive. Bernadette definitely makes the songs better. I also really liked Nathan Lane as Sherry.
But I don't love the cd. The only song I listen to with any regularity is "Imagine That."

"Oh no, you won't. No, not a chance. No arguements, shut up and dance."
