Maybe I'll give up my dislike for reading and learn to like it again.

That was funny. Now I'm going to think of her as this poor little unemployed woman seeking bargains at the local Walmart. LOL

From: northern VA | posted: 7/8/2004 at 2:49:48 PM ET Oops-this is not from Broadway.com. Sorry,TheaterMania.
I was going to read Anna Karenina with Oprah this summer, but when I saw her reading schedule and the quizzes she wanted you to answer,I got pretty steamed and said forget it. Frankly,I'd rather throw myself in front of a train than be pushed around by Oprah. I'll read it when I darn well feel like it,and on my own terms.
I am enjoying reading her emails, however. Oprah tells you how the book points out the ironies of Russian society.
Oops, off topic. I wonder if Bernadette chose the big purple edition with the Oprah banner that you can oh-so-easily pull off (anti-Oprah readers complained). It is very pretty. Oprah wants you to read this one 'cause her online reading guide corresponds to the pages in that edition, and she wants everyone to be on the same page. She would also like to see your video reading diary. Because Tolstoy seems to be unable to commit to a dinner party at Chez Oprah.
I kid. I do like that Oprah uses her show to promote books, and she's the only one who could get Anna Karenina on the bestsellers list in the summer of 2004. There might have been an Oprah book display at Bernadette's Wal-Mart,since The Heart is a Lonely Hunter was a previous selection of Oprah's Dead Authors Who Can't Be Ungrateful And Complain About Her Marketing Book Club.
Jenn, who danced like a fool this morning and is paying the penalty.

From: NYC | posted: 7/8/2004 at 4:27:38 PM ET So Kmart had Jaclyn Smith and Martha Stewart, Target currently has Lenny Kravits and now Wal-mart has Bernadette! There's nothing like a celebrity endorsement...now, if we only had Wallyworld in Manhattan.

Find this site: Perfect People, which appropriately includes Bernadette. Photo gallery has a few shots I'd not seen before (including a WonderBra-esque one).
