From Internet Network: 68.218.27.x | posted: 2/20/2004 at 7:18:28 PM ET i have this recording i downloaded with bernadette peters singing 'broadway baby' with a cast of singers. it seems like a benefit show because you hear laughter in the background. starts out with a guy saying "thank you, next" and an english woman saying she's going to sing 'something from stephen sondheim" and the guy groans and the audience laughs. she start singing, then bernadette peters apparently walks on and starts singing. by the end of the song it sounds like eight or nine people are singing! anyone have any idea what i am talking about and what it's from? i'd love to see the concert if there's a tape i can buy somewhere.
thanks!

I think it was on the second DVD as well as on the second CD from the same show. I am not sure if all of the "talking" in the beginning is on the CD though...I know it is on the DVD.

It is definitely from Hey,Mr. Producer! On the DVD,it's in the second act on the second disk. Maybe it was cut from the videotape or a television broadcast (if it has been shown on television)?
As for getting a copy-it shows up from time to time on Ebay-that's where I got my copy. For some reason,a U.S. copy is not available. However,a copy that can be played on DVD machines in the U.S. is available-I can't remember the country of origin, but it's an Asian country. The listing should say that it can be played on U.S. machines,or you can ask the seller. I have the DVD-I don't know anything about a VHS copy. It's a great concert-Bernadette also sings "Unexpected Song" from Song and Dance,"Being Alive" from Company, she's in the "You Gotta Get a Gimmick" number from Gypsy, and in the "Broadway Baby" (Follies) number,of course.
There's also an amusing bit with Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Sondheim.

LOL Editing this. I just got a copy off of Ebay. There is another one on there if anyone is interested.
Don't search under Bernadette Peters. Search for: Hey! Mr. Producer DVD
