When she dives over the couch and you hear the entire set shake when she hits the floor, well it still makes me go "Ouch!". LOL

| posted: 2/19/2004 at 12:46:57 PM ET Was she on that program more than once? When I was growing up, Bernadette seemed to be on TV so much. I remember her on the Sonny and Cher show, all sorts of talk and variety shows. She was such a relief from the usual lackluster TV junk. Thanks to her, I was probably the only kid in my town with a fixation on Harold Arlen songs. I wonder where all of those tapes are now?

| posted: 2/19/2004 at 12:51:32 PM ET Yes, she often guest starred on the Carol Burnett Show. I think maybe 4 or 5 times during its run. Bernadette has said several times that she was very grateful to Carol for putting her on so much because Bernadette wasn't getting a great deal of work at the time and being on Carol Burnett's show gave her continued national exposure. There were lots of great musical segments but the best non-musical skit is As The Stomach Turns. It is a take-off of the movie The Exorcist with a little Watergate humor thrown in as both were quite on the minds of the public at the time.

The part at the end where they were cracking up was funny but also when Bernadette started freaking out in the beginning (when she was throwing the flowers and candy) was hysterical...the look in her eyes and the creepy music I'm so glad I taped it...I'd love to get a copy of the entire hour long episode, has anyone seen it on ebay??

It's described as the Collector's Edition with Ken Berry and Bernadette Peters. Later in the show Bernadette sings a beautiful rendition of Oscar Levant's "Blame It On My Youth", and is also in their musical salute to Harry Warren. In the other hour long episode included on the tape(the one with Ken Berry) Carol Burnett does just about the funniest impression of Judy Garland I've ever seen. It's definitely worth buying.
