1st Tony nomination

Bernadette is nominated for a Tony in the Best Supporting or Featured Actress category (On the Town).

The winner was Linda Hopkins (New Orleans native born in 1925-her next nomination would not come until 1989 for Black and Blue) for her role in Inner City. The other nominees were Adrienne Barbeau in Grease (Rizzo) and Beatrice Winde in Ain't Supposed to Die a Natural Death.

(Assuming that the nominations were announced in May.)

David Steinberg Show

Bernadette guested on an episode of this 5 week summer replacement variety series on CBS hosted by comedian David Steinberg. James Caan also appeared.

Tartuffe

Tartuffe opened at the Philadelphia Drama Guild. Bernadette played the role of Dorine in the classic Moliere comedy. Others in the cast included Richard Kiley, Kurt Kasznar, and Jobeth Williams.
