5th Tony nomination

The good news is...Bernadette's nominated for her 5th Tony (The Goodbye Girl). The bad news is...Chita Rivera has made a much trumpeted "return" (it's not a comeback) to Broadway in Kiss of the Spider Woman.

Her fellow nominees are Ann Crumb in Anna Karenina, who resists throwing herself under a train and goes on to play Rose in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Aspects of Love Broadway production, and Stephanie Lawrence in Blood Brothers, who is taken from us much too soon in November 2000.

Animaniacs

Bernadette voiced the homeless singing cat, "Rita", in this cartoon series executive-produced by Steven Speilberg. The first time "Rita" appeared was on Sept. 21, 1993, in the episode "When Rita Met Runt". "Runt" was her dog-companion. Rita and Runt appeared occasionaly over the next several years. Rita last appeared on the show in 1996. (All dates approximate.)

Kennedy Center Honors

Bernadette performed at the Kennedy Center Honors for Stephen Sondheim, one of the 1993 honorees. The show was broadcast on CBS.
