I just bought tickets for Wintertime, starring Marsha Mason (original Paula in movie of Goodbye Girl, and played Tammy's mother in the Judy Garland movie). It should be an intereting off-broadway play. It's one of those mixed up relationship stories, boy loves girl, girl loves boy, boy loves another boy. lol The venue is actually pretty large: over 200 seats (pretty big for off-broadway). Anyway, is anyone else going to this? I know previews begin tonight. I would love to know what you think if you see it.

It also stars:
Tina Benko
Brienin Bryant
Michael Cerveris
T. Scott Cunningham
Christopher Denham
Carmen de Lavallade
Nicholas Hormann
Danny Mastrogiorgio
Lola Pashalinski

I'm going on Feb. 18. I have a subscription to Second Stage, in particular to see this play. (Well, full disclosure, a friend wanted to see the play with Mason; it's also being done locally, in Maryland, which would have been OK with me, but..)

ooo yea! Let me know what you think. That's still in previews (but the end of previews) at that point. I got my tickets for March 14h because I wanted a Sunday, and that Sunday had the best seats. I don't really want to wait that long, but wadda ya gonna do.

Christine: a good chat on Wintertime on ATC...be forewarned, though, there are spoilers galore (yes, that's me) in those reviews.

Thanks Jean.
Gee, people seem to either really love it or really hate it. Well, I'll have to go in with a positive mind. I'm going later in the run, so perhaps the changes they've made (or will make) will improve their likability with audiences.
I just hope that if I find myself enjoying it, I won't have some couple near me talking about how much they dislike it.

Well, on one side of me there was a woman who laughed loudly at everything; on the other side was a woman who laughed at nothing and left at intermission. The best I can say is to remember it's a farce; whatever message Mee has tucked away (and he does seem to like to ponder about love in all its varieties and complexities) is secondary.
