There's an interesting article in the Pittsburgh Tribune today about Bernadette receiving the Richard Rodgers lifetime achievement award next week on Oct.10. She did a phone interview in which she mentioned appearing as Dainty June at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera in 1962 with Betty Hutton in Gypsy. That sort of clarifies things for me because this was completely separate from the 1961 national tour with Mary McCarty in which she understudied June and played one of the Hollywood Blondes. It makes the chronology a little clearer in my head. I would love to provide a link but I have no idea how to do it-just looking at the internet is my idea of high tech.

So then her bio wasn't a total lie all those years, when it said she played Dainty June. LOL It just wasn't the whole truth. *Anyone who saw her London concert gets the joke*

No, it wasn't a total lie because I have seen playbills for sale on ebay which definitely list her as playing Dainty June. She seems to have been in a variety of different productions of that show in the early sixties, both tours and stock. She was also in a Las Vegas production starring Mitzi Green which I think was in the summer of 1961, preceding the second national tour with McCarty. It's very confusing, maybe someday I'll get it all straight.

LOL I was just kidding before...I know she played Dainty June. I was just making reference to her London concert, when she's joking around about it being a lie that she played Dainty June....and how it was her mother's fault, and she needed to change it. LOL I thought that part of the show was so cute....again, just part of Bernadette's humor in her act. Anyone who believed that it was actually a lie (not you Karen) really doesn't understand Bernadette's sense of humor.
