NYC for Free

The link above is a site where fellow New Yorkers trade discount findings and cheap or free events and such.

Also, if you like hotdogs, Gray's Papaya on Broadway and 72nd. You can get 2 hotdogs and a soda for under $3.
They taste amazing, and do their job for a hunger fix.

As far as work, it depends on your work atmosphere preference. Little places in Soho and the Village are always nice and quiet.
Then there's always the fast-pace waitressing and Office Work. And Ushering at Broadway shows. A lot of my friends do that in addition to working part-time or full time in other places.

Secretarial temps get paid pretty well and I've known a few actors who have worked in law firms (at least one Tony winner, an opera diva, an understudy, and more)

thank you so much for your replies i will definitely check out the website as well as the job/restaurant suggestions. i have an appt w/a temp agency and an interview set up at this restaurant and i also sent in my resume to a couple places that specialize in exposing kids to music as i have a background in teaching. thanks again--its kind of mind blowing to think im actually going to be living there
