From: northern VA | posted: 4/3/2006 at 8:50:12 PM ET I should be contacted soon about an opportunity that I'm hoping will come true-this is a job and place I really want, and I'm trying not to get my hopes up, in case it doesn't materialize.
Whatever you do-pray, think lovely thoughts--think of me...think of me fondly...
(Good Lord in heaven, that song is in my freakin' head now.)

From: northern VA | posted: 4/3/2006 at 8:55:36 PM ET Let me redeem myself. That song from POTO is pitiful, and I apologize. Quick! Think of A Chorus Line! The whole damn show, or you can't spare the time, the opening number (and include the "Who am Iiiiii/anywaaay/am I myyy/resumaaay"). They're reviving it, ya know.
Thanks, Sister Rose. I may be a bit scarce around here (I know everyone is crying into their beverage of choice.).

At any rate, sending positive thought waves your way.

From: northern VA | posted: 4/15/2006 at 2:25:04 PM ET Well, I didn't get the job. It's okay. I've applied to other places, and there's one in particular that I would really, really like. So it's all good.

From: northern VA | posted: 4/16/2006 at 7:27:04 PM ET Thanks. I'm looking at VA, the Boston area, and an interview with the folks from Queens in June (at a conference).
Job hunting is definitely different when you already have a full time job.

From: NYC | posted: 4/16/2006 at 8:02:11 PM ET Queens Queens Queens....YES!
Boston is BORING. B-O-R-I-N-G.
I know nothing about VA.
The best time to look for a job is when you have a job.

From: northern VA | posted: 4/16/2006 at 8:37:35 PM ET Really? I thought Boston was a neat town.
But I think Queens is doable now. I'm cautiously optimistic-that is, if I get the chance to interview.

From: NYC | posted: 4/17/2006 at 6:45:47 AM ET Boston's a nice place to visit for a short time. My main office is there and I have to go there for work. Everything closes early - despite all of the universities in the area. There is theatre of course, it's just touring or regional - yes, I'm being a snob. It's just as expensive to live there as any other northeastern city and the salaries are less, from what my colleagues have told me. It's also not very diverse from what they told me - which often leads to tension. Of course living anywhere is different that visiting.
