If you can get ahold of that show, you can see/hear her sing it. (I don't know how to get those old shows, but there is a Johnny Carson website that might help.) I doubt that she ever recorded it.

When she and Allen toured together in 1989, they did a much compressed version of that medley at the end of the show. It was great!

As she sang softly, with eyes wide open, a single tear welled up and ran down her check. It was a precious performance. That is my first and most lasting memory of her.

She's amazing!

Stumbled upon this fun site. How have I gotten along for so long without it?

They ask a long list of Broadway figures that question. Bob Mackie not only mentioned "What'll I Do," he specified Bernadette's rendition. Sweet.

Registered: 6/24/2009 | posted: 6/24/2009 at 6:08:21 AM ET I remember Bernadette singing this song in the 70's and it carried me along making me also cry at the end with her, feeling the pain that emulated from her. I was so impressed with her ability to make me feel such that I became from that day on, a fan of hers forever. It was so moving that I've never forgotten it over all these years and I also have tried to find a recording of her singing it... sadly to no avail.

Registered: 4/26/2014 | posted: 4/26/2014 at 8:49:37 AM ET I remember that performance exactly. It haunts me. I've searched to no avail. It is not the 1992 performance everyone seems to think you/we are talking about. Her hair was up. Her facial expression didn't change but that tear rolling down her cheek.... magic. Wikipedia makes note or a "particularly poignant television performance" of which there is no public recording. Such a shame. That performance is etched in my memory.
