| posted: 4/30/2008 at 1:58:54 PM ET I went to Bernadette's concert at the UT Tyler Cowan Center and it was ahmazing! 19 songs withour intermission! I was chosen by the President of the Cowan Center (she knew I was a HUGE fan) to walk across the stage and present Bernadette with her roses!!!! So I was waiting in the wings of a giant stage looking on as Bernadette Peters (MY IDOL, HERO, INSPIRATION, etc) sang Rose's Turn, one of my favorite songs. It was a moment of pure magic. My heart was in my stomach and I couldn't breath deeply enough to completely fill my lungs with air. Even typing about it now makes my heart race. You see, Bernadette didn't know she was getting roses, so she started off and this man pushed me onstage. I ALMOST RAN INTO HER! It was really embarassing because she just made her little sound od surprise she makes and walked back on. I was so embarassed that I practically threw them at her and all but ran off. Oh well. Backstage at my chance for redemption my throat and mouth were dry as I waited beside Mr. Laird's dressing room (hers was right next to it, but we ((me and the lady from the newspaper)) were instructed to wait outside his). He came out and chatted with me, and was really very very nice. This made me feel much better, and some moisture returned to my throat. We didn't talk about Bernadette (other than he asked if I liked the concert and was I excited to meet her. YES and YES!!!!), but we talked about the fact that I was going to be in his show "Ruthless!" this summer. After he signed my program and took a picture with me and moved on, I was left alone-ish (there were a couple people from the orchestra waiting near me, plus the newspaper lady. We were the only ones special enough to get to wait there, Mrs. Susan ((the Cowan Center President)) said. Everyone else had to pay a couple thouand dollars to go to a cocktail party she would be at). Her assistant came out but no Bernadette. Finally about seven minutes later (it felt like seven hours, of course) SHE came out. They said "Bernadette, this is your flower girl." And she was all "oh, of course! Well aren't you gorgeous! You're so pret- have I met you somewhere before?" and I shook my head. Anyway, to make a really long story short, she talked to me for about five minutes even when she signed the orchestra people's programs and took a picture with me. Best day of my life ever!!!!!!!!!! Sorry for all the runons, I'm generally pretty grammatically correct, but I was getting really excited even just typing this...

"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990
"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

| posted: 4/30/2008 at 2:09:36 PM ET I uploaed the picture a few minutes ago. When I get home I'll upload the pictures of me with Marvin, of her autograph, the set list (I got an original!) and such. Or just on my blog. I wrote a much better story of this on it www.thedramagirl.blogspot.com if you want to read it. I would actually appreciate it if you have time... I'm not sure how to get people to read it. But that's one of my favorite articles.
