Since someone asked, last week, about whether or not the debut of Gypsy made it to the Billboard charts, I thought I would post this snippet from the Playbill website.
(This is from the article about Bernadette's vacation. This is the very last paragraph in the blurb
"The new cast recording of Gypsy — starring Peters, Tammy Blanchard and John Dossett — was recently released by Angel Records. The CD entered the Billboard charts at 175, the only cast recording currently in the Top 200."
(The only thing I don't get is "the only cast recording" part. Chicago --the movie cast recording -- was up around number 20, last time I looked. Maybe they mean no other cast recordings for a broadway show?)

Since it is a movie "Chicago" the motion picture is considered a soundtrack. This is because it's dubbed while the actors pretend to sing...like a music video.
