Registered: 5/3/2002 | posted: 8/26/2003 at 10:48:21 AM ET Catherine O'Hara was on SCTV with Martin Short who was in The Goodbye Girl. This is ancient history now since the board moves so quickly, but the Carmen Miranda connection I was originally thinking of was that Miranda was in a bunch of 20th Century Fox movies with Alice Faye like The Gang's All Here, Weekend in Havana, etc. and Bernadette portrayed Alice Faye in Curley McDimple. Also, it was actually Betty Hutton, not Betty Grable who was in the movie of AGYG. And am I thinking of the right person when I say that Jim J Bullock co-hosts a talk show with Tammy Faye Bakker? PTM is right, you can probably easily connect Bernadette with anyone in show business going back to the early 1900s.

LOL!! I hold the same opinion you do with regards to Britney Spears. My roommate constantly plays that song "Slave4U"...I just drown out Britney's moaning and panting with Bernadette's gorgeous voice(lately it's been the Gypsy cast recording) Good lord, "Everything's Coming Up Roses" is soooo much better than "Slave4U"(in my opinion). I realize I am a bit biased considering I am a die hard Bernadette fan. Oh well, different strokes for different folks! Sorry for the rambling

From: Bradenton/Sarasota, FLA | posted: 8/26/2003 at 4:44:15 PM ET I'm "dated" too and haven't seen a lot of Britney, but I have seen enough, thank you very much.
What I know mostly of her is a very funny impression a co-worker (with a pre-teen son) does of her singing the phrase "Baby, baby, baby." Cracks me up every time. And those Pepsi commercials -- esp. that yucky one with an ogling Bob Dole and the dog. Ugggh. Shivers.
Her name and Bernadette Peters should not be uttered in the same sentence.
[Spears is also the example I give when I'm ranting about people with little real talent who are famous and making zillions of dollars, while I see people with more talent in their fingers who are not as famous or getting the level of attention or, like many theater performers, just making scale. I saw Les Miz in D.C. last summer and was thinking this as I was listening to some extraordinary voices.
Ooops. I ranted again...]
