Can't imagine anyone not knowing who the real winner was Sun.night..and Marissa will never be invited to sing at Carnegie Hall or Albert Hall or Radio City or.....!!!Bernadette will always be remembered not only for her outstanding talent but for her CLASS,and Marissa ..? And has anyone on this site seen "Hairspray" and what are your feelings about it?

It's a fun show, and it's nice to see new things on Broadway, but I wouldn't say it's one of the best shows ever. I think it's very over rated, but I'm glad to see something that both adults and children can enjoy. Plus, it has some cute moments. It's no Gypsy, and obviously Marissa cannot compare to Bernadette.

Well, technically Marissa IS the winner because she was given the award. And I believe, she did sing at Carengie Hall, correct me if I am wrong... for the Mack and Mabel benefit. Bernadette kicked ass on Sunday ( sorry for my language). There is no doubt she wowed a lot of people. Even many who had doubted her before then. She does not need another TONY to prove just how talented she is. And really, if the TONYS are somewhat based on politics..which some seem to believe, then would she really want to win an award based on politics anyways??

I totally think Bernadette's performance that night, and every other night I have seen her, was Tony Award worthy! But obviously, as far as the TONYS go my opinion does not count for very much. I really can not recall the last time a performance on the TONYS has garnered such a positive response( especially since so many doubted her at first)and has created such buzz. I would think that that in itself would make Bernadette feel very proud. I know it sure made a lot of pople involved with the show very proud of her as well of a lot of fans!

She does have a lot of class...instead of sitting there bashing Marissa and complaining about not winning she is taking things in stride and giving 110% of herself into her performances as usual. I'm sure she probably realizes that the majority of the TONY voters must have had a reason to vote for Marissa...I'm not saying I agree with those reasons or even that they may have been based on moral judgements because I really do not know...but this was their decision. Musical Theatre is an art form and art is subjective. Being on Broadway...let alone being one of the leads in a Broadway show is a geat accomplishment for anybody. Marissa shouldn't be denied that acknowledgement.

I have not seen HAIRSPRAY yet so I do not feel that I can fairly make judgements on it. Only really on the numbers and performances that I have seen performed out of context of the show...such as the TONYS.And like I said before...I think it speaks volumes that the only two standing ovations given that night were for two performers who did not win and who's shows were shut out of the TONYS.

I just find that so funny in an ironic sort of way. Those were my 2 favorite performances of the evening; particularly Brian Stokes Mitchell's, because I already knew Bernadette was going to be amazing, but he just gave me buterflies when he sang. I don't think the words to that song ever sounded so meaningfull before (I just kept thinking of our American soldiers for some reason). It's just funny that the 2 best performances of the evening left with no Tony's.

Anyone who doesn't agree that the Tony Awards (and Oscars) are based on politics is wrong in my opinion.

bernadette was awesome at the tonys, and showed real class and poise with the cameras in her face as they announced the winner. marissa and harvey didn't even show up to their own hairspray party. and after the tonys it seemed like bernadette was having more fun at gypsy on monday than on thursday. she may not have won but actions speak louder than words

Yes, I saw Marissa at the "official" TONY party. Harvey could have been there but who knows..there were a lot of people there! Bernadette did not go to the offcial TONY party so does that make her a bad person? No....why make judgements on whether or not someone went to a party without even knowing the reasons behind their decisions??

no it does not make her a bad person, nor harvey or marissa, i know people went to the hairspray party expecting them to at least show up for a congrats on a job well done. that is all that was meant

I know you didn't mean anything bad by it daedreams I'm just saying..maybe they had good reasons for not being there. Or for all we know...they could have gone after all the cameras and press were gone. I know there were quite a few cameras at the TONYS party so maybe they had to go do some more press interviews someowhere else or something.
