Smash Season One came out on DVD today and it is totally worth buying if you're a Bernadette Peters fan!
As part of their bonus features you get Bernadette singing "Roses Turn"!!!!!!
It is beyond wonderful. It was the alternate song they recorded for the episode and the used Bernadette singing "Coming Up Roses" when the episode aired.
I think one of the reasons is because "Roses Turn" is so long and there wasn't enough air time.

I enjoy the show, but not enough to buy the entire DVD. I just get the Bernadette episodes on iTunes 
How do you like them egg rolls, Mr. Goldstone?

I bought it and it is SO worth it!! The deleted scene in the Workshop episode is heart breaking. Bernadette sings Rose's Turn beautifully and with so much passion that I'd be surprised if she didn't get some kind of award for it. It's worth buying the season though really.

Davidj again - I didn't know you saw Bernadette singing rose's turn! Did she record two songs - I may have 2 buy the DVD now

Oi, I didn't either! Darn...I guess I might have to buy it, too. I knew she was initially supposed to sing Rose's Turn but then it was changed to Everything's Coming Up Roses, which did make sense plot-wise. I thought maybe they'd recorded Rose's Turn, but I had no idea it was available on the special features? Now I'm thinking it's worth checking out that DVD! Unless of course someone puts it up on YouTube or something.

Everything's Coming Up Roses is on a few select websites, but Rose's Turn isn't. Believe me, I've checked. It's SO good! She did record both, but apparently there wasn't enough air-time to play Rose's Turn, so they went the other direction. But it's very very worth it!! I would SO recommend buying it!
