(Single tickets go on sale in January 2012--that's all that is posted so far. "Any Center Theatre Group patron who is currently holding tickets for Funny Girl will be re-issued new tickets for Follies.")

Bernadette is the only one that didn't transfer.

Is anybody planning on seeing this in Los Angeles?

Registered: 11/8/2011 | posted: 1/11/2012 at 11:37:56 PM ET Makes sense for 4 reasons:
1. unfairly copycat-bashed in reviews, because after one person says "her voice is shot", nobody wants to be the unfashionable one who says, "Actually, she served the character. Her voice is fine." And what critic bothered to watch her sing the In Buddy's Eyes snippet on The View a capella at an ungodly hour (for Broadway performer), without expecting it or warming up, and without a vocal mic, clearly and pristinely?
2. She was the one with a bunch of previous engagements, many of which were already postponed once due to the move from DC to NYC.
3. She is such a New Yorker. Her family and life and home and dogs and everything are here, Smash shoots here.
4. She has said she doesn't like to stay with one character for too long. Can't see why she'd want to make an exception for nutty Sally!
Some of the articles are making it sound like they wanted to replace her and only her, or at least leaving that as an optional interpretation. I kind of hate that.

Registered: 9/17/2011 | posted: 1/12/2012 at 11:35:33 PM ET A close friend of mine is involved with the production and, according to him, the main reason that she is not transferring is that she wants to uphold her concert dates (as mentioned by her publicist when the news came out that she wasn't going to LA). She had to cancel/reschedule quite a few concerts last Spring because of the opportunity to do Follies at the Kennedy Center in DC and apparently she does not feel comfortable asking some of those venues to reschedule AGAIN, which I really respect. I am sure that it will be hard to say good bye to the character of Sally, especially when everyone else is still involved.
I have loved this production so much and have seen it at least 10 times, have a ticket for tomorrow night and also closing night on the 22nd. It's really a magical production and I am going to miss it!

I wonder what kind of project she'll take on after her last scheduled performance in June. I'm hoping everything works out with I DO! I DO! so she can be back on Broadway. I'd also love for her to be cast in the INTO THE WOODS Disney movie.

I actually had tickets to see Peters on Oct 15, but she cancelled to do "Follies". I am glad she is doing her concerts instead of cancelling them again.
5. Maybe she'll make more money on tour than the Ahmanson offered to pay.

I'm also sad that FOLLIES is closing, but am happy that she's continuing with her concerts. I have tickets to the Cincinnati and Newark shows, and can't wait! I've never seen one of Bernadette's concerts in person.
Jennifer, you're going to the Northridge concert, right?

Registered: 11/8/2011 | posted: 1/13/2012 at 1:37:30 PM ET kao, I thought that was probably a big reason. I knew some of those concerts were already rescheduled. I wish all the articles about that made that more clear. I also know from what she said when she went back to her tour after her husband's death, she really appreciates that people by tickets, make travel plans, etc., and she respects the effort that her fans go through to support her.

Registered: 5/8/2003 | posted: 1/18/2012 at 7:49:25 PM ET Victoria Clark is the ideal replacement for Bernadette. I'm so happy for her and the show. I know Sally will be in great hands. I hope they find someone just as good to replace Ms. Elias. I'm not an opera fan, but I grew to really love her performance.

I really liked Rosalind Elias and Leah Horowitz performance.

I'm interested to see how/if Jan, Danny, and Ron change their performances in their scenes with Victoria Clark. I wonder how different the interaction between Sally and Phyllis/Buddy/Ben will be.
