Hi everyone. I joined this board a couple months ago, and I don't post very often. But I was hoping that you all may be able to help me with something. I'm a college student, and I was given an assignment to pick one charity and give a presentation to the class. I chose Broadway Barks, of course, but I'm having a little bit of trouble finding information on it. I was wondering if any of you had any cool facts or websites or anything that could give me? Any help would be appreciated.

Here are a few websites for your research:

Wikipedia article (if you follow the links on the article, you'll find additional info)

Broadway Barks official site

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS article, 2010it's important to recognize that Broadway Cares is a sponsor of Broadway Barks

Playbill.com article, June 11, 2010

Also do a general search on google (but I'll bet you know that)

another url for another BC/EFA article: "http://www.broadwaycares.org/page.aspx?pid=610"

If you need pictures, look at the photo section of this site, and then click on the "Broadway Barks" link; there are photos from almost all of the events over the years.

If you do need hard data, you may want to contact Broadway Cares directly and explain what you are looking for and your reason for gathering it. You may get some info that isn't on a public website. Good Luck!

"Particular mention must be made of Bernadette Peters, who turns up briefly in a sort of sparkly Glinda the Good costume. She's the reluctant muse sent to help Alice with her writing. The muse is dressed like Oz, sounds like Queens and behaves like a bored student adviser." Alice Film Review, The New York Times, December 25, 1990

"I'm one star away from Dolly Parton ... and Raymond Massey is between us. I hope we don't suffocate him." Bernadette Peters receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, April 24, 1987

I've looked in the past for information on Broadway Barks and had trouble finding it, I think maybe because it's primarily a fund-raising organization that benefits a tax-exempt non-profit organization. Since it doesn't seem to be a 501 (c) (3), they're not required to file financial statements and the like that the public can view.

If you go to their page, and click the donations link, it tells you to donate through the Mayor's Alliance for NYC's Animals which IS a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, and THAT one you can find information about, if you go to a site such as Guidestar and search by name or EID 73-1653635. You can view all sorts of info there, including mission statement, financials, etc. But that organization is not Broadway Barks itself, so I don't know how useful that might be to you. But contacting them might point you in the right direction to get more details about Broadway Barks.
