well i dont know if anyone here watches the view but i was watching it this morning and they had steve martin on. he was talking about his book and such. then they showed a clip of the jerk with bernadette. the scene where he licks her face. steve martin said, "bernadette had no idea that was coming. the director just said, lick her!" So i guess when that scene was shot, bernadette didnt know he was going to lick her face. and you can see she just went with it like the good sport she is. LOL. i didnt know if you guys knew that or not. i thought it was cute though. he didnt say anything else about her. just thought id share.

Interesting. I picked up the book over the weekend, and though I haven't really sat down with it yet, I have only seen one very oblique reference to Bernadette so far, and he doesn't even mention her by name. The whole book seems to end right after the The Jerk is released and deemed a success.

That's cool, I always wondered if that scene was a spur of the moment thing. I didn't think he'd really go into any detail about past relationships in his book for respect of the girl he'd dated.
